Title: Cluster and Paroxysmal Tachycardia Post by cairnterrier on Feb 28th, 2005, 11:09pm Two weeks ago after being in remission for almost four years I awoke at 2 am on two nights with a burning sensation behind my left eye which has always been the precursor to an attack. I was able to abort these sensations with pacing and ice. The next week at the office I was hit with an attack of tachycardia with my heart rate at 190 BM, had to get an ambulance and was taken to the ER where they diagnosed PAT. I kept telling them about my 30-year history with cluster but don't know if they heard me or not. The term did appear in the notes they took however. I am now seeing a cardiologist and my GP and an electrophysiologist. I have not returned to work am out indefinitely because the tachy re-occurred the following Saturday and I aborted it using a Vagal maneuver. Don't know which is scarier, the clusters or tachycardia. This attack scared me to death. The damndest thing is no headaches have developed. Has anyone heard of cluster morphing into tachycardia? I don't have a neurologist at this time, maybe need to find one again. However the cardio MD is prescribing a stress test and an echocardiogram and a beta-blocker (Tenormin). Since beta-blockers have some effect on cluster maybe he's not far off the mark? |
