Title: Maybe a CH sufferer... Post by OnlyMe on Feb 17th, 2005, 2:06pm Hello all. I was wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience or has any advice for me at all. It's a little long but here's my story... It began with an orgasm a week ago, when it hit it was the most excruciating pain I have ever felt in the back of my head. I thought I was having an aneurysm. Blinding pain. I paced around my house thinking I was going to drop dead right there. After 2 minutes, it went away but turned into this dull ache in the back of my head. That was exactly 7 days ago on a Thursday and the dull ache has not gone away. NO MEDICATION WILL WORK, and I mean I have tried everything. After debating wether or not to go to the emergency room all weekend, I went to the doctor on Monday and she gave me ALEEVE and told me it was probably a tension headache. I could have kicked her right there. That night it got worse and I stayed in bed all afternoon and evening crying. Tuseday went by without any improvement but not as bad as the night before. I called and made an appointment with another doctor for Wednesday afternoon. But it got worse that morning and I ended up going to the ER because I couldn't take it anymore. That doctor looked at me like I was stupid and said "Well I'm not sure exactly why you are here?" Eventually he gave me some shot that they give migrane sufferers (I don't remember what it was called, starts with a "T" ) it didn't help. That was a waste of time. That afternoon I saw the other doctor. He finally took some concern in me and ordered a CT scan right away and scheduled to see me the next morning (TODAY). I went to see him and the CT scan came back clean. So he said that I might be having a cluster headache. He put me on a heavy Rx of MIDRIN and a Rx of INDERAL. But I have a horrible feeling that it's not going to work. It's been 1 week today with no relief. Has anyone else had a headache like this brought on by an orgasm? Does this sound like a cluster headache to anyone else? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Sorry it's a bit jumbled, but it's kinda hard to think straight. |

Title: Re: Maybe a CH sufferer... Post by vig on Feb 17th, 2005, 2:25pm that does not sound like a cluster headache.... (2 minutes? in the back of the head?) cluster headaches come in 'clusters', you don't get just one. |

Title: Re: Maybe a CH sufferer... Post by BarbaraD on Feb 17th, 2005, 2:32pm May be CPH -- they can treat that. Pain only lasts for a minute or so. If you can lay in bed - it probably isn't CH. That's the one thing we all have in common. We cannot be still during an attack. the back of the head doesn't sound like CH either. Usually in the top of head, eye, and ear. Go to a neuro and let him/her decided what you're having. Also there's a cluster quiz to the left -- take the quiz. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Maybe a CH sufferer... Post by sandie99 on Feb 18th, 2005, 1:16am I've had twice twice pain in the back of my head due to ch preventive medication. That med was called indomethacin. That pain lasted for 8 hours and nothing worked! You can be sure that I dropped that med as soon as I could. I had that experience thanks to my neuro in the UK who was sure that I didn't have ch and in his attempt to prove himself right I had to suffer.... |

Title: Re: Maybe a CH sufferer... Post by OnlyMe on Feb 18th, 2005, 1:11pm Thanks for the advice guys. A lot of those articles I've already read, and I agree that they sound pretty close to what has happened to me. The thing is that I couldn't find any other stories of a coital-headache lasting upwards of a week like mine has. Most report thier headache resolving itself within a day. The longest I read someone's to have lasted was 48 hours. I also believe I read somewhere of a cluster headache cycle begining with a coital-headache. But I'm not sure about that last one. I've read a LOT of people's stories in the past week so I may be getting it mixed up. Anyway thanks for the advice guys. |
