Title: I'm freezing..... Post by lionsound on Feb 8th, 2005, 1:21pm I don't know if this is CH specific or not(yet).....time will tell..... I'm freezing today...I can't seem to warm up ....my core is cold, and I've run, drank tea, about to shower. It's 40 degrees here, warm for this time of year. I know a lot of us get cold(thank you Sean_C for that poll) chills, whatever.... What do you do to warm up? (yes, I thought of that.... and no, my husband is not home...so cross that off your list. ) ;;D thanks, lionsound |

Title: Re: I'm freezing..... Post by floridian on Feb 8th, 2005, 1:36pm A hot bath is better than a hot shower for short term warming. Hot pepper and ginger are also good for a warming feeling - but they actually lower body temperature, so that doesn't really help. The hypothalamus has many of the thermostat controls, so that could explain things. If this continues, definitely see a doctor - low thyroid hormone could be a problem (the thyroid takes some signals from the hypothalamus, and other types of thyroid problems are pretty common). My wife takes tyrosine when her thyroid is sluggish - but too much tyrosine could be a problem if one has high blood pressure, high heart rate, or is on anti-depressants. Serotonin is also involved in thermoregulation - too much causes serotonin syndrome, which can lead to mania and heat stroke. Too little and symptoms like depression and cold result. Changing this is a tricky business, especially if you are on other meds. Migraneurs (and clusterheads, I suspect) often have problems with mitochondria and energy transport inside the cell. CoQ10, B-vitamins and nadh might help with that, not sure, just a hypothesis. |

You're not on the equator, yet, Paul ... keep working on it. Even Miami would be an improvement (another 500 miles or so) :) |

Title: Re: I'm freezing..... Post by Kris_in_SJ on Feb 8th, 2005, 8:33pm I hate to make light, but I've found Menopause to be a remarkable cure for being cold. It's such a good cure, I'm often tempted in the middle of the night to run outside and roll around in the snow! Sorry - but I couldn't resist. Hot tea and a very warm bath might help you. Hugs, Kris |

Title: Re: I'm freezing..... Post by lionsound on Feb 10th, 2005, 11:08am You all are great. Thank you. :) I used some of you suggesstions...the bath ...the long johns...tea....warm blanket.....no chix broth(vegetarian), but my mom is visiting and made the best squash soup. Eventually I warmed up...but then needed ice on my head. Turns out I was handed a lovely 12 hr meegraine that day. Which may have been the cause except that I 've been waking up cold each day since too. I've had a thyroid test and I take the proper pile of vitamins. I get very chilled inside with CH's too..so maybe this is just part of my neuro repertoire ... :-/ ..... Yours from under a foot and a half of new snow today, lionsound PS....didin't relocate to the south, but if I show up on your door step, Paul or Floridian, you'll know why. ;;D |
