Title: Re: Poll Post by E-Double on Feb 5th, 2005, 11:22pm Not like there's anything wrong with it [smiley=laugh.gif] but I do both... [smiley=laugh.gif] Sweat my ass off and freeze....kinda like hot and cold......like if you have really bad sunburn and you are burning up but the slightest breeze sends you into convulsive shivers and teeth chattering... Title: Re: Poll Post by broomhilda on Feb 5th, 2005, 11:52pm Ditto ;) I always thought the chills were almost like the end to an adrenaline rush we get....or like the chills you get if you go into schock? being Bi just spices things up a bit ;;D |

Title: Re: Poll Post by don on Feb 6th, 2005, 8:48am I always sweat. Except for the time I did the dance at 2 AM in February in my back yard in my underwear. Then I got chills. So did the neighbors. |
||
Title: Re: Poll Post by medic1852 on Feb 6th, 2005, 8:54am I get sweaty and it does not matter the weather I go outside and do my little dance, then when it is over I am freezing and cold. But during a hit I will sweat. |
||
Title: Re: Poll Post by TonyG1 on Feb 6th, 2005, 9:49am During a hit I almost always break into a sweat ... I head for the shower and then outside into the cool (thank goodness) winter air ... sometimes it helps to go from a very hot shower to very cold early morning air ... |

Title: Re: Poll Post by Lili on Feb 6th, 2005, 9:57am Hi Never, ever had chills. Sweat profusely in my face & on my head. I also heard about this hot/cold theory before. One md that didn't want to give me meds told me to stand in front the freezer and breath in cold air. I can't really vouch for it - if you have shadows & breath cold air, did it abort the ch or weren't you gonna get one anyway? |

Title: Re: Poll Post by bigred on Feb 6th, 2005, 10:37am HI sean. I have a small circuller fan in my Headache room(bedroom). When the bad one comes I am always standing up taking the pain because its impossible to lay down. My fan is facing my back towards the back shoulders and head. Its always my frontforehead and around my right eye that sweats as the pain intensifies. Maybe its the suttle sound of the fan that helps me take my concentration off the every second pulsing pain. But I do find the movment of air on my body helps me not to totally explode. Good luck Bro hope this helps. Bigred |

Title: Re: Poll Post by athome on Feb 6th, 2005, 7:43pm I got some sort of hot flashes as the pain gets worse - then after the attack I get the chills. I tend to think that my body temp is usually out of wack during a cycle. :-/ |

Title: Re: Poll Post by Kris_in_SJ on Feb 6th, 2005, 9:10pm I'm a hot flash girl, myself. But then, I'm also going through that lovely time of life called "The Change." This means I'm flashing all the time!!!! Truth be told, there was one other thread similar to this. We all seem to sweat during - except for the ladies, since ladies never sweat - they glisten. Title: Re: Poll Post by TonyG1 on Feb 7th, 2005, 7:12pm Interestingly, I woke up with a CH (kip level 5 bordering on a 6), took my trex, made some tea, smoked a cig (I know that doesn't help) :-[ woke up burning up. Did the Vulcan Mind trick to get myself under control (breathing, dissassociation from the pain, etc.) Started freezing as the attack abaited -- Normally that doesn't happen to me ... [smiley=huh.gif] Perhaps that is a good sign as my cycles usually only last about 3 weeks and you guessed it.... it is week 3. (He says with hope in his bleary, sleep deprived eyes) ... Seems like hope is what keeps the cluster head going ... Peace and may we all see PFDs and nights soon ... Tony |

Title: Re: Poll Post by Lucia on Feb 8th, 2005, 6:23am Since it's winter now I am cold. But I am menopausal so I sometimes get hot flashes, too. I have never had a bout in really warm weather so I really don't know if this answer would change. Actually my head is all I focus on anyway. |

Title: Re: Poll Post by Major_Headcase on Feb 8th, 2005, 4:51pm Good question! I "feel hot/flushed" and sometimes sweat around my head ... and usually feel chilled/shot/spent/runover afterwards but always assumed it was because part of my CH "getting through it" ritual is to rub a re-freezable ice pack constantly over my head & eye during an attack. I remember a couple of times when my head was sweating at the same time I had the ice pack going on - weird! Guess the post-attack chills are not necessarily caused by the ice pack, lol. |
||
Title: Re: Poll Post by debs on Feb 8th, 2005, 8:18pm sweat (super glisten) if it's a bad attack, then cold chills. Too bad there's no cold air here in Texas to go chill out in (from a reformed northerner). Debbie |

Title: Re: Poll Post by Lost_in_cluster on Feb 25th, 2005, 11:56pm I have to say that I thought it was just me. I get Iceburgs for hands but my head Is red and hot. One my Aides at work told me she could always tell when I had a headache (she said my scalp gets red). So much for hiding it. |

Title: Re: Poll Post by Ellick on Feb 26th, 2005, 7:57am Hi sean I get hot and red faced. I seek cool air. The ocassional electric sensation I get at the rear rh side of my head sometimes feels cool, but that is not at the same time as a hit. Ellick. |

Title: Re: Poll Post by Margi on Mar 1st, 2005, 3:09pm Mike's the same as most here. It's like someone cranks his thermostat up as high as possible at onset, then turns on the a/c all of a sudden at the end of the attack. I have his blankie ready for when the Beast leaves him. |

Title: Re: Poll Post by Frank_W on Mar 1st, 2005, 3:23pm The hypothalamus gland, in addition to regulating circadian rhythms, also regulates body temperature, so it's unsurprising that CH sufferers end up with their body temperatures out of whack, when they are experiencing a hit. |

Title: Re: Poll Post by PCMCCK on Mar 3rd, 2005, 12:07pm Had really bad sweats, day and night (sweat running down my face like I was in a shower, undershirt soaked), followed by chills due to being soaking wet, when I was taking any kind of anit-depressant. Once I stopped taking those, only get occassional sweats at night-have to get up and towel self dry because I still get soaked and thus chills. Anyone else have same experience when on anti-depressants? |
