Title: My German Son arrived Post by BarbaraD on Dec 27th, 2005, 8:12am My German son arrived last night and he's all grown up. He's 23 now and a student at University. He's still got his cute little grin and the best Christmas present I got this year. Caleb was so happy to finally meet his Uncle Ben. Ben brought him a soccer ball and showed him some tricks and Caleb thinks Uncle Ben can do anything now. Think we have a soccer fan 100 per cent now. We've got about a month's worth of stuff planned for the next two weeks. We're going to show him a real cajun new years party. He went to a madi gras party when he lived with me, but he was a little young for the "adult" new years. Anyhow, I'm excited. (Bet you couldn't tell could you?) Hugs BD |

Take care and if we don't hear from you for a few days, should we be trying to raise bail money for you????? ;;D Hugs Carol |

Title: Re: My German Son arrived Post by BarbaraD on Dec 27th, 2005, 2:04pm Right now he's in the front yard playing soccer with Caleb. (did I mention both his parents are psychologists but his mon - the german one - is a child psychologist? - maybe some of it rubbed off on him). Tomorrow John and I are introducing him to a night of sin... at the casino... what can I say .. might as well bring him up right.. Caleb is upset cause he can't go with us, but we told him this is ADULT entertainment. I think John and Buddy have a strip club in mind for one night -- boys night out and all that.. Poor kid was too young for all that stuff in high school, but now he's a man -- OMG!!!! :D Caleb is upset cause he can't go with the boys to that one too... but Granny put her foot down on that one! Think I'd best go referee before they kill each other.... Hugs BD |

Title: Re: My German Son arrived Post by BarbaraD on Dec 27th, 2005, 7:57pm Oh, my friend John (his surgote father) has decided it's time to bring him into manhood.... this should be interesting. I'm just sitting back laughing -- John has never had a "real" child and is having a great time with Ben. The year he was here with me, John loved doing all the "father" things with him, but when it came to the colds and cleaning up and all the not so fun stuff -- guess who got that part ;;D. But Ben is a great kid. We bonded real well and have stayed close to him and his parents. His dad came over and we've talked to his mom on the phone all thru the years and his sister and brother and uncles, so we're all just a great big family. I can hardly wait till Caleb is old enough to go visit them. We're all looking forward to the American relatives coming for a visit. If anyone gets a chance to take an exchange student - do it (and don't read the friggin' rule book - just treat 'em like they're yours and give them a real American experience). And just think - I'll HAVE to go to Germany when Ben gives me grandkids over there.... ummmmmm... gee that'll be tuff, spoiling grandkids across the ocean, but I think I can probably manage it.
