Title: FYI here it goes......... Post by KMT on Dec 1st, 2005, 9:09am Good morning to everyone Here in an hour and a half I go to see the neurologist (new one). I hope to find something out that will explain what is going on with me but on the same hand am nervous. Have gotten so use to bad news or no help that I am finding it hard to be positive. I am trying though. I have all my papers from the site ready to go. Sad but can't remember all the meds that I tried anymore guess I will recognize them if said right. Maybe my doc sent my chart over there can hope right. Anyway will keep you all posted those that are interested anyway... Take care to you all..... Pf wishes Kim |

Title: Re: FYI here it goes......... Post by KMT on Dec 1st, 2005, 12:47pm Hey all Well I am back from the neurologist. She took some blood because she wanted to know what my electrolyte are at the moment. She started me on Topamax 25mg two times a day then change to 50mg two times a day in two weeks. She also gave me Midrin as an abortive but am sceptical since the pain is so intense at the very moment that usually I can't wait the thirty minutes it takes a pill to process through my liver but will try it. Still keeping my Imitrex at hand just in case I have to have it and can't wait. She wants me to get an MRI of my cervical spine sad thing is it is $2000 some odd dollars that we don't have. Neither one of us have insurance being full time students and all. Time to have a sit down talk with the hubby not sure if I can make this part happen right now. She isn't to sure do to statistics that I have cluster headaches. My diagnosis today is Cervicogenic headaches. She says I could be Cluster headaches and this too she wants to see the MRI first and follow up in two months. Talked about physical therapy possibly after that but am thinking maybe going back to the chiropractor one that manipulates and see if that will be cheeper. *Tears* I can't wait till I have insurance and don't have to play this hum ha game anymore. Gotta get one that will cover this first since it is preexsiting. Well that is my appointment in a nut shell. Hope this med helps me and soon... Sorry if I don't seem happy just down about the money and the also up and down of diagnosis. For a year now I thought I knew what was going on in my head and now switch a roo... Love ya pay no mind k..... Frustrated & Confused........Take care |

Title: Re: FYI here it goes......... Post by rickyshot on Dec 1st, 2005, 8:43pm In my experience chiro did nothing either for CH or my migraines. And I have been in the same place as yu with no insurance. I was so sick, I was violent. I don't know how I stood the pain without fainting. I had no money for meds and just went through it for years. I would go to ER but they knew me and I had trouble from bill collectors. Never could hardly pay for it. I am thankful to God that I was delivered from poverty.... |

Title: Re: FYI here it goes......... Post by KMT on Dec 2nd, 2005, 6:48am Hi............Well first day down after Topamax not expecting much yet but am really tired today. Fluke am sure. Ian I asked the Dr. that if I should stop taking my Imitrex and she told me that I could still use it and I could always judge which headache warranted Midrin and which warranted Imitrex. CharlieChiropractor isn't my thing either but most of the treatments I found for this so call cervicogenic headache is a manipulation so I thought I should try it out. I am desperate what can I say. Have to say my first visit with the Chiropractor was good. Lots of things out of place especially in my neck after realighnment then he put ice on my neck layed me on this half bed half water bed put my arms over my head and put these jets on and all the sudden a massage aaahhhh it was nice. Of course must admit that today I feel like I worked out to much yesturday and now I am sore. I follow up again on Saturday as well. Well Clinical in OB today so need to finish getting ready to go. Hope that you all have a good day, PF wishes, and will keep you all posted k. Kim |

Title: Re: FYI here it goes......... Post by JenniferD on Dec 2nd, 2005, 7:03am Kim I hope you feel better soon. That "statistics" thing- dunno where the dr. was going with that??! But glad he has given you something to help/try. I, too, have no insurance and have had to pay out of pocket for dr. visits and prescriptions. Yeah, its a bitch, but you do what you have to to get well. I've gotten to the point where I CHOOSE what treatments I'll do, (like skipped a follow-up mri (knee) and exploratory knee surgery). Don't stress over that stuff, just focus on getting better and taking an active role in your own well-being. VITAMINS, eat right, WATER!!!!, rest as well as you can, and "down-time" whether in prayer, meditation, relaxation techniques, whatever, give that gift to yourself. peace, Jen |
