Title: job update- *the letter* ;) Post by JenniferD on Nov 19th, 2005, 8:21pm This has been slightly modified to cover names/business. I went to the office, emptied what was left in my desk and the stuff they put in a box, and left this for her: RE: Acknowledgment of Termination "boss", After being told that my job is no longer available to me, it is with regret that you have forced me to resign my position as secretary at XXX Realty, Inc. due to medical reasons. It seems to me that this has come about due to several misunderstandings: 1. I must have misunderstood you when you said you would keep the temp receptionist up front for a little while longer and hire someone to fill in for me while I was out. 2. I must have misunderstood you when you said the new hire would then become the receptionist upon my return. 3. You must have misunderstood me when you said you needed a timeframe and I said I needed 2 to 3 weeks out and then would be put back on the lower dosage, and you did these three above things while marking it in your day planner. 4. I must have misunderstood you when you said I need not worry about marking down time I made up during all of those 1/2 hour lunches or no lunch at all or staying late because, as you put it, I “don’t abuse” taking extra time off “like other people do”. I didn’t understand that one day I would have to “prove it” to you in order to keep you from withholding my final 2-day paycheck. 5. I must have misunderstood you when you told agents during a sales meeting to write down all agreements between parties because “you never know how things will be interpreted”. I thought that statement at that time applied only to agents and contracts. Due to the many misunderstandings that have transpired, and the fact that my “job is no longer available to” me, I have no recourse but to seek employment elsewhere. During my two years at XXX, Inc., I have gained valuable skills in the office environment, as well as learning the full meaning of trust, respect, friendship and compassion, and I take with me a new and deeper appreciation of what makes a good manager and team leader. Wishing you all that you deserve, JenniferD cc: "Owner" (who I got along well with, am quite sure she DIDN'T tell the above to and simply told him that I quit) So CH Family, whad'ya think? |

Title: Re: job update- *the letter* ;) Post by BarbaraD on Nov 20th, 2005, 8:41am One thing more -- In the CC: I'd add XXX- attorney-at-law -- that always scares the hell out of them.... and maybe the Department of Labor (just for good measure about the last paycheck) -- I just love CC's.... (I always include my attorney on anything I send out - most of the time I just stick his letter in the filing cabinet in case I need it - he hates it IF I need it and he don't know about it, but after 25 years he's gotten used to it).
