Title: Tornado Post by Jimi on Nov 16th, 2005, 4:23pm Well after dodging bullets this fall, we finally got tagged. An F-3 tornado hit my small town of Madisonville, Ky. late yesterday afternoon. Took out the south east side of town. I live on the south west. Over 40 people taken to the ER. We were very fortunate and were being warned by the TV stations to seek shelter immedietely and evidently most people did. Many stories of people coming out of closets and basements to find sky where the roof was. We just got our electricity back and I had a few minutes so I thought I would fill you guys in on my life for awhile. I have been out since the wee hours of the morning helping. My best friend owns a car lot and it is gone and all his cars and trucks damaged or totalled. It is one thing to see pictures, but it is another thing to be in among it. We were so lucky, hardly any damage to our home. A neighbor down the road, Frank Ramsey, (some of you old heads may have heard of him) played basketball for Univ. of Ky and Boston Celtics saw his home turned into kindling as he hunkered down in the closet but they are ok. I'm tired and rambling so I better quit. Anyway, now people know where Madisonville, Ky is...what a way to be known. Later dudes and dudettes. |

True Jimi. We just get a day's picture and story in the news and a couple minutes on the news. When you're there the fear and danger is felt, along with the loss and time rebuilding. |

Title: Re: Tornado Post by TxBasslady on Nov 17th, 2005, 11:14pm Happy to hear that you and Ruthie are ok. Been a strange season....... [smiley=huh.gif] So many storms.......devastating damage. I drove thru Beaumont, Tx and Lake Charles, La the other day. Those cities are still tore up from Hurricane Rita. Damn near every house and Church you can see from the Interstate have damage. Trees, thousands of 'em....in huge heaps and piles. Sure makes me think about how lucky some of us are. J |
