Title: misdiagnosed???? comments please
Post by hughesa on Nov 15th, 2005, 9:48pm
I was hoping to get some advice and/or comments on what some of you might think of this.  I was diagnosed with cluster headaches some years ago.  I never took the medication prescribed and basically have been living with the pain.  I work sitting at a desk looking at a computer for about 6 hours a day.  I was away from work for about 8 weeks and I did not once get a headache (sore eye as I call it).  I’ve come back and as soon as I sat at my desk they have started again and “ruling my life”.  Does this sound like I suffer from “cluster headaches” or does it sound like I was misdiagnosed.

I suggest that you see someone that actually knows what headaches are.  Y

ours sounds like eye strain related headaches or something like that.  Not minimizing the amount of pain but cluster treatments almost certainly won't help.  I know thousands of people that do nothing but work on computers and none of them get clusters.  I started getting clusters before I ever worked on a computer.

I've been episodic for 28 years.

Thanks for your comments marlin I really appreciate it – the problem is I’ve had my eyes tested 3 times now by different people and they don’t find anything wrong with them .  I guess I’ll just have to keep searching for answers.

You might be like me. A shovel just won't fit my hands. So I avoid them.

Hi there and here is my two cents ... Most of the Cluster Sufferers that I know here cannot stand to be in front of the computer during an attack.  I definately can relate to you though.  Since owning my computer aproximately 8 years my eyes have gone down hill... I also suffer from Migraine, and Occipital Migraine... My pain sounds alot like yours at time.  I have also noticed that during my vacation in the summer I do not have any headaches, or very few... I believe you were probably misdiagnosed... Cluster sufferers cannot sit still while having an attack... think yourself fortunate..... be well Ree
