The rest is history.

Is it telling you your username or password is bad or is it saying the servers were not available?

I was getting server unavailable message earlier, but am on now.

Give it a few and then go back and try again.

If what Gator suggested doesn't work, try uninstalling msn messenger then reinstalling it.

Try getting and installing Gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net/).

If Gaim doen't work either then you know it isn't a local problem. It could then be a problem with the MSN servers in your area, or something wrong with your username/password, or even an internet connection problem blocking the ports MSN messenger uses.

Hey Kimmie.....

whenever my messenger won't work - and i need to get to my email - you can always just open a browser and type in www.hotmail.com - and then get your email that way with your username and password.

Sometimes, it does that to me...... and I cant get the messenger - but atleast I can get my email that way...
