Title: Veterans Post by Bondservant on Nov 11th, 2005, 1:59pm :)It is Veterans Day. Thanks to all our vets for all they do, have done, and are going to do. You all keep us safe in our homes and businesses, free to speak, worship and act, as long as we act in an unhurtful way. Some would degrade your bravery, commitment, dedication, selfless service; insinuating that you have fought for a lost or misguided cause; the liberal elite question your intellect and ability to think independently. The fact is that you have volunteered to fight, knowing that it may be necessary die to protect the freedoms they take for granted. Some, idiotically, profane the supreme sacrifices made by Veterans, by ridiculing or degrading the cause. Such ridicule and degradation is really most heinous and disgraceful. But such is the lot of cowards who would prefer to live on their knees, apologizing for their nation, rather than die fighting for it, and all it stands for. I salute all our Vets. |

Title: Re: Veterans Post by BarbaraD on Nov 12th, 2005, 1:43pm I come from a long line of vets and I salute all the brave men and women who have volunteered (or were drafted for those who remember the draft). Since WW1 - that's as far back as I have personal stories for - my family has had someone in the military and we're proud of every last one of them. Yesterday I was explaining Veteran's Day to my four year old grandson and why we stop to remember all our Vets. I told him about his Papaw and what he did in the military, his uncles and great grandfathers and great-great grandfathers. He said when he grew up he was going to be a soldier. Of course tomorrow he might be a policeman, but it was a good thought for Veteran's day. To all those who serve today or who have served in the past, Thank you... Hugs BD |
