Title: Paranoia...
Post by high_commander on Nov 10th, 2005, 3:56pm
About five weeks ago, we left the 15 year old son on his own at home while we went to town. We live about 10-15 minutes drive from town and thought nothing of it. He's a big boy. 6'1" - 150 lbs, skinny, but a brown belt in karate.

So were about to leave town when he calls and says, "mom, some guy tried to break in but I scared him off"

Needless to say, 7 minutes later we were at home and getting the full story and relating it to the cops.

All goes well in the meantime, until last night.

The boy is at home alone again and  someone pulls right up to the house and walks towards it, same guy !

Morgan looks out the dining room window, dude sees him, mouths the words "f**k this", gives Morgan the finger, runs back to the car and he's out of there.

Calls mom.............mom sends neighbour and cops over.

Now the big question. Will he be stupid enough to try a third time? (probably)

Both times were between 8 and 9 at night.

First time in the ten years we've lived here that we've locked our doors at all times.

Security in the country is kinda useless since the cops can't get here fast enough, and there's usually no one to hear an alarm. We're not "supposed" to shoot to kill, but dang i'm getting a little ticked !  That's my wonderful boy at risk, twice ! Nobody harms my kids dammit !

You need some trained German Sheppards...

... thousands of them.

Yikes, Dani - I'm so sorry to hear it's happened again!  Good for Morgan though - tell him we're all proud of him!

I'd sure be posting some "Trespassers will be shot" signs on my fences if I were you.  At least that way, you're protecting yourself legally (about the trespassing anyway - still a grey area about the shooting part here in the land of Gun Control ;))

You'd think with the oil patch boom we're having right now no one is having much spare time to be wandering around out in the boonies - especially up in your neck of the woods!!

Say hi to your boys from us!

That is scary…I would be upset too…
Hopefully the lowlife learned his lesson and won't be back…

I am so sorry.  When I was in college I lived in an apt with 3 other girls.  I was warned when I moved in of the bag lady.  She would just let herself in and romage through the house and kitchen etc at any hour of day or night.  We always kept the door locked even while home after a couple break ins we learned our lessen real fast!  It is scarry.

Growing up we had a peeping Tom in our neighborhood.  Everyone knew who it was and the cops would get called but he never learned his lesson.  Finally he just died.  Relief!

I will pray for your family for saftey and peace of mind.

Tell him to call 911 first, neighbor second, Mom third!  It's faster.  And, the guy probably will be back again.  Every time you leave, alert cops and neighbors to watch your house.  You've already got two reports in so cops are aware of the situation and will hopefully react quickly.

I had to do that when my two daughters were pre-teen age (11 and 12, old enough to stay home alone without a baby sitter, as long as we were close by) and we went out  to a neighbor's house for dinner and left the girls at home.  No cell phones back then.  First time, they called me, and we were there in 5 minutes.  Second time - same thing.  Third time - the girls just dialed 911, then me.  Filed the police report, adding the two prior visits at our window.  Our guy, turned out to be the 16 year old son of a neighbor four doors down the street.  We did not prosecute at that time, but, went face to face with his Mom, and told her if he even set foot within 100 yards of our property again I would have him arrested.  She sent him to military school two weeks later.

Yikes.

I can imagine how you and yours feel.

The guy is either wacked or tying to rob the place probably. Next time... : take off again but not really. If he's scared of your son, wait until he sees you two! http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/willy.gif

Having the cops in on the ambush might be a better idea though.  http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/caged.gif
