Title: How to abort a hit if you are 4.

How to abort a hit if you are 4.

I thought you might enjoy Jasper's definition of how clusters work.

Mummy: So what do you think makes your head hurt?

Jasper: There is a monster and it gets into my head. It eats my inside of my head and thats why it hurts

Mummy: How does that beast get into your head?

Jasper: It's not a beast, it's a monster like the one that chases Harry Potter.

Mummy: Well how does the monster get into your head then.

Jasper: It gets in through my mouth when I have dinner's I don't like and then it hides. (nice try huh? he thinks he can get away with chocolate and chips for the rest of his life!!)

Mummy: So how do you make the monster go away.

Jasper: I get my magic mask and breathe and that blows the monster out of my nose and then it can't hurt me anymore.

So there you have it, get a clustermasx, its a monster blow job!!!  [smiley=laugh.gif]
I'm just over the moon I have something that works, that Jasper is willing (and eager) to use and that won't do him any harm as he grows which, with the other meds available, I can't be so sure of.
Cheers Ben! I'm going to post this on the masx thread too to make sure Ben see's it as he doesn't often wander onto the general board I know.

Hugs for that brave little Man are certainly in order...

Huge ones for Mum as well...what a big heart she has.

This only goes to show that more agressive investigation and research into methods of cycle cessation and prevention is needed.

This disease does NOT discriminate, and for Jasper, Megan and Dylan, Julia, Chickabiddy and all the other cluster touched children out there who now or may in the future develop this horror, I will not end my work on this cause until there is reliable pain ending treatment, and not simply pain management.

You know what I've learned most from Jasper?
How to just get on with it. He doesn't whine, he gets hit, he gets on with it and he goes back to playing. Over simplification as I'm sure you realise but he has never ever once whined about his head hurting (as I have) he has never cried knowing another one is coming even when I'm PF (as I have) He loves life, he enjoys every minute he can and he has fun (as I'm trying to emulate)
I know he is my son and I'm naturally prejudiced but I really admire him and think he is a remarkable child.
Proud mother? you bet your boots.

What an awesome little guy he is Helen.  You deserve a ton of credit because it's through your wise words to him that he does just get on with it.

Good job Mom!  Brave boy Jasper!

Shit, that made me cry.

It hit me especially hard since I am beginning to realize that my daughter may also be developing clusters.  She's 13, and I know PMS brings on headaches too, but she has these headaches that look way to familiar to me.  I keep trying to deny the possibility, but it's there.

Anyway, it sounds like he is a real trooper, as my daughter is too.  She doesn't even complain about them very much.  She amazes me.

Probably not CH, Bro.......I went chronic out of the gate at 12 and everybody within three houses away knew when I was under attack.

That was good Helen.

Happy and sad at the same time.

You indeed are a good mother. A bit verbose but a real pip. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/hugger.gif

I'm no doctor, and this isn't happening enough yet to make a doctor visit useful, but it's starting in her the exact same way it started in me.  She described it to me in detail, in the same uneducated way that a person would who doesn't know what they just had.

For me, it started with one bad headache at a time, several months/weeks/days apart, but very distinctive.  What I mean is, they had a signature that could not be mistaken, but they only happened one at a time, infrequently.  The headache would be an instant-on excrutiating pain behind my right eye, with no warning that I was aware of.  It would make my eye turn beet red and my sinuses would instantly be stuffy to the point of not being able to breath from my nose at all.  I would be paralysed with pain, but only for a few short minutes, followed by an almost instant relief to the pain and then complete exhaustion.

My daughter is describing the exact same thing, and it scares me.  I am still pretty sure that the odds are way against her having it too, but the thing is I've never described this to my daughter so she didn't learn it from me, she must have experienced it.  I am hoping against hope it does not get worse and become the beast that I know so well now.  If she starts to have multiple of these at a time, or starts having them more than the 2 she has described, I will get her to my neuro and see what we can do.

Carrot's the culprit, chips are the vector for the famous chocolate cure.

I have this on the undisputed authority of Professor Jasper MD FRACNS and CHil(d).

Hopefully he can keep that attitude, it will get him far.  Playing the victime does no do any of us any good.  Looks like he comes from strong stock.  Keep up the good work, Helen.

I'm with ya Blue.
It breaks my heart and boggles my mind the fact that a 4 year old child has to endure CLUSTERS. This is a torment no child should ever know.
It does sound like he has the right idea: Finish the attack, then back to whatever. That is one amazing kid Helen. and Jasper - HIGH FIVE!!!

Fubar - when I first started getting CH, it was primarily in my right eye, like a piece of ice had sat on it and frozen the eyeball. it was bad, but each time a new cycle started it cranked up bigtime. So my initial clusters weren't kip 10's - more like kip 2's.

Nowadays - ah hell I give up on gauging them and just say THIS FUCKING HURTS!

Peace,
Carl

Shawn

I hope to God it isn't, and I'm sure you know the odds are probably for migraine and against CH as it is REALLY common for girls to develop it during puberty and shortly after.
I get the one-sided autonomic symptoms with migraine too so it could still be that.

If it is any help and you think there may be a hormone link, get her to try 1000 mgs a day of Oil of Evening Primrose. At minimum it will give her lovely skin, hair and nails and can prevent PMT, and at maximum it could prevent a lot of HA's if they are hormone related.
I don't know of any health risks associated with taking it either. It takes a while to work, about 4 or 5 weeks so she needs to keep going with it.
