Title: Public Service Announcement For Cat Owners
Post by Jeepgun on Nov 4th, 2005, 2:02pm
Folks, always check your tumble dryer for kittens who like the warmth -(don't worry it lived!) I love my cats. It was awful but the sound it made was funny: "miaow!...kerthunk...miaow!...kerthunk.....miaow!....kerthunk..."

I stopped the dryer and opened the door. Winston did his best to bolt out of the dryer in outrage, and instead, managed a drunken stagger.  >:( :-[ [smiley=laugh.gif]

Frank that and under the bonnet of your car!  They love warm places but it can sometimes be bad for their health! ;;D

btw:  My one dog (sausage cross foxy) is called Churchill, started as Winston Churchill ::)

zFrank! Poor Winston!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've had incidents like this as well.with 5 cats, one never knows when the circus is in town!

Cats pick their own names around here, f'rinstance, the Thanksgiving my daughter's husband was given a nice Turkey, and he offered it to us for dinner. He drove 1.5 hrs from their place to ours, and when he got here, I stepped outside to greet him. The second the engine stopped I heard a kitten's plaintive cry.we searched all over, finally found it in the engine compartment of the car.........safe and sound and starving.
"Camry", as we named him, is 7 yrs old and living well..........now where DO you spose we got that name?

Tell Winston the gang at my house says to be careful!

Couple of my cats always jumps in the dryer when I am takeing out clothes folding them and I grab them quick cuz I don't want them to start that as a habit......alot of times sumthing happens or phone rings and the dryer door gets slammed. Sumtimes I check clothes and restart the dryer but have to double check esp if I had to turn around or walk away for a second. The one had jumped in so fast before I almost didn't notice and shut the door !!! Whenever I do a household CAT CHECK looking for everyone I get a creepy feeling if I was doin laundry and one comes up missing !! Sometimes one gets shut up in a closet or sumthin so I try to take a head count often. Had an outside cat get a reverse mohawk once when resting on the car motor in winter. Luciky it was ok but had a real COLD STREAK no doubt. Sumtimes they will gather when I clean dog pens to watch and if I am not looking they walk into the pen........oh my......lucky for them the dogs didn't notice and were outside playing !!!! Would of been a free for all even if it started out fun the excitement would turn into a real slaughter. Happen'd at the kennel I worked at. Dryer sheets with that fresh smell of kitty Pam

Had an old slide screen years ago fall out onetime and had cats on a hot shingle roof !!!!

I had a cat, Miss Kitty (yea, I know, lame name), who had a litter of 5.  Had a friend who brought her 5 year old son to pick out his pet kitten, to be picked up when the kitten was old enough to leave Mom. We tied a red ribbon around the kitten to distinguish that this was little Johnny's new pet.

Day of pick up .  All kittens had been contained in a large box  in my kitchen.  Johnny and Mom come to the house, there were only two kittens in box, none of which were Johnny's.  Looked EVERYWHERE - kitchen had been closed up, so kittens had to be somwhere in the room.  No kittens, Johnny went home in tears.

I had a wall mounted oven, with a drawer under the oven, and a cabinet under the drawer.  Five minutes after Johnny left, I'm still looking for three kittens, mind you, I open the drawer to grab a hot pad (I was baking dinner at the time).  In the drawer, curled up among the oven mitts and hot pads and the nice warmth from the oven above, were three little kittens, one of whom had a red ribbon around his neck.

Dinner was put on hold while I jumped in car with ribboned kitten and a WHOLE box of kitten foot, and zipped to Johnny's house.  Johnny was happy, but his Mom was less then pleased with me.   :-[

I have got the name to top all of yours.....Own.  Not Owen, Own.  I was 2 years old, my parents told me that this was a cat of my very own, what did I want to name her.  So, I named her Own.

Laugh all you want.  I was 2.

Well....Bastian(the dog) waned to play with Leelu's toy (it's a white mouse right under his mouth). She was not havin any of it and was goin in to get it back.

Bastian just loves his kitty sister. She was 5 when we got him as a puppy and he thinks she is the greatest. She on the other hand has other ideas.

Had a cat once named Goyang-ee (cat in Korean).  Only people knew what it ment and that was my inlaws me and my husband....LOL

Now I have Annie after little orphan Annie got her from the animal shelter.

Chances is the older one and she go that name because in Germany she showed up at our building as an abandoned cat and we took her in and gave her a second chances.

So I would have to say our cats have mostly named themselves.

Love my babies haven't had these ones jumped in the dryer but my oldest cat jump in the dirty laundry basket and we can't ever find her.  Or she lays on my husbands dirty socks.  Lol

Annie has to be where ever mommy is like now she is right here on my lap.

Ok that is my spill about my BBs

OMG Brian Your cat is a twin to mine even to the little white patch under the neck.  My cat loves to sit on clothes, the more the merrier. I am always finding her in the laundry basket. So cute. My son carries her around on a pillow and miss thang just sits there and takes it..

How strange is that.
It's funny that you mention you cat loves clothes. When I get ready for work in the morning my cat is usually sleeping at the end of the bed. I lay out my clothes, take a shower and when I come out the cat had moved over on top of the clothes I set out. She used to love the laundry basket too, but we had to put a lid on it since the dog loves to pull clothes out and nibble on them.

Our cat.

At any time we may have a dozen or more cats and kittens living in the out buildings at my place.
We generally dont feed or care for them as they have there own lives and have a job to do.
We also have a very large german shepherd who looks mean enough to bite your leg off and eat it for a snack.
He's really just a spoiled baby.

Last spring a kitty just a few days old got caught in some poultry netting and needed to be rescued. My son and I cut it free, had a broken leg so we brought it to the house and nursed it back to health.

The dog sensed something and helped immediately licking and cuddling it. Sharing his food and bed the very first night.
To this day that kitty sleeps with the dog. Thinks he's a dog as well, Eats only dry dog food, Walks with me and the dog for miles around the yard, When I have the dog heel  the cat does too.
Woe to any other cat that comes near as the dog will tear it up if he can catch it.

Our cat, Miss Kitty (earlier post) had her first litter of kittens and we never even knew she was "expecting".  She way laying on my lap while I was watching TV and every now and then would shiver.  Dumb me, thought she was dreaming.  All of a sudden, I see something coming out of her nether parts and start yelling for hubby and two daughters to "grab a box, grab a towel - NOW".  It was like watching an old Keystone Cops movie with the three of them running through the house and banging in to each other.  They come running out with a shoebox and I'm hollering - bigger box - NOW.

Got Miss Kitty into the box just as kitten # 1 comes out.  She cleaned him up and we named him "Chaos".  Her second kitten was born in total peace and quiet, so we named him "Serenity".  Thank God, she only had two that litter.  They were gorgeous cats - Chaos - a very macho short hair gray tabby, and Serenity, a very non-macho looking long hair black and white.

And who knew???  Cats can have a LOT of litters in one year.  Took us three times to figure it out.   :-/   ;;D

Sandy
