Title: Anybody else catch the International Space Station
Post by Jimmy B. on Nov 3rd, 2005, 7:47am
It went directly overhead from 5:43pm to 5:47pm EST, last night. Not sure how much of the U.S. had a view.

Me & my daughter went to check it out & what a site it was. Came into view in the southwest sky and streaked across the sky in a few minutes.

I just got a camera adaptor for my telescope, but it was going too fast to get a read on my scope, or a good picture :(

Spaced out Jimmy

I'd love to see something like that Jimmy.. I'm glad you got to see it even if you weren't able to capture it on film  :)

Here is a nice Java applet http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/SSapplications/Post/JavaSSOP/JavaSSOP.html It calculates visibility of the ISS.

Onya, Jim.  Our weather is clearing at long bloody last so we're hoping to catch it soon.

What about Jupiter and Mars in the night sky just now - almost scarey!  Reached up to touch them and was that close.

I'm trying to get my daughter involved in stargazing...makes for some guiet quality time with her. She's 18 now...so anytime she wants to spend time with her Dad, is appreciated ;;D

Thanks for the site...Totka!

That's the main reason I got the adaptor...trying to get a good shot of Mars...and I'm running out of time. I can't get the exposure right...but give me time.

Seen it a number of times.  It is fun taking a handful of people out of the country club at exactly such & such time and saying 'watch that way'.

Hit that link that Totka posted... you can see it often.

Next really good one at my loc is Friday twilight.

I remember 1957 watching Sputnik from our front yard. The entire world watched Sputnik and our launch pad explosions in 1958 before we got out of the atmosphere.

Thems wuz the daze. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/frisbee.gif
