the last time i wrote here i said iwas dropping my meds, well it did't fast enough. on the 26th my wife tried waking me and could't. then i stopped breathing. when they got me to the trauma unit they told my wife they didn't know if i would make it. i ended up on life support and in a coma for three days. what a trip. i just got out yesterday. very thankfull to be alive. many doctors are in the process of being fired. but it's nice to be able to come back here with you all.

OMG Jim thats terrible, I was only thinking about you this morning actually, in that I hadn't seen you in a while. I was going to give you until tomorrow to post and then I was going to phone you. Good grief, I have cold shivers going down my spine. I'm so glad you are okay ((HUG)).

I've been wanting to just be put in a self induced coma, but not under the dangerous situation you were in!

Yikes, Glad to hear you're OK.  In the future, don't take such drastic measures to get some rest.

Wow, what an amazing experience.  Life is such a delicate thing.  So glad you told us.  Do you have any recollection/experience of when you were in that state?

Thank God you are still here.  You would have been deeply missed.  That is just a terrible experience.  I research everything my dr recomends now.  Ever since the one dr overdosed me on a narcotic and sent me home just long enough so I quit breathing and almost nearly died.  15 more min. is all I had according to the EMT and my husband was down stairs and it was just a miricle he happened to see me.

Wish I could answer that question, but right now ... my alternative is it'd help more than my other options that run through my head (and body). Don't want to take over a very serious thread by one of our family, so I'll back off these ideas for now.
Right now, we should leave this thread open to to Jim and what he and his wife have just been through.

(But a PS: Maybe in mail, PM , etc ... you could clue me in about possible avenues of self induced coma's? You may not understand how serious I am. Shoot, I even asked the other night if there was a possiblity of getting a hold of Cloroform (sp?) and have the ability to knock myself out before I do something drastrict. But again, this belongs in another thread ... this one is about Jim and am so glad he pulled through some very threatening times.) Take care Jim  8)

Oh my goodness, Jim! Thank heaven you're allright. Those near death experiences can be life changing, once you get over the initial shock. Try to find the good that can come out of it. I'm sending tons of PF and wellness vibes and prayers. Glad things turned out OK.

there's only two weird things that happenedwas when i was in the coma my wife kept tlling everyone how we are soal mates, and when i came out of the coma my soal mate was the first person i saw. what a lovely site. the other and i blame this on helen is i thought i was in england go figure. it's so nice to hear from everyone here. an event like does change one's persective on life for the positive. my goal is to work towards being as healthy as i can get. and people cherish evey moment it can go to dman fast.  jim

But I _gotta_ ask -

What Exactly induced the coma, so the rest of us can avoid this in the future? Was it the mix of meds, and what were they? Was it quitting the meds too fast/all-at-once/etc? A bad bowl of chili?

the docs had me way over medicated, 3200mg nuerontin, 480mg verapomil, imetrex inj, 120mg morphine, 200 mg trazodone, 1oomg ,cyrequil, 100mg zyprexia, 100mg imiprimime and some i know i've forgotten, they're waiting to see the permanent affects to my brain and the chance i had a minor stroke. more when i know. hope this helps

Holy shit, Jim!  Glad to see you are back in the land of the living.  Overmedicated is an understatement.  Cripes!  Firing is the best thing that could happen to the docs.  Firing at them might be more like it.

If you were being treated only for CH......then Yeah, Man.............WAY overmedicated. Of course, it's hard to imagine any situation requiring that mix, both stellar and inventive.

Very glad that you are ok!

I told my mom last night that after my cycle I want to go med free to see how I feel without taking all of the meds, but I don't take near as many as you.  I know that I need to ween myself off of them.  I should talk to a doc after my cycle is over to see how he suggests that I do it.

Again, very glad that you are alive and doing well.

Shit just the Neurontin alone could have induced it. Never mind adding the other stuff. OMG :o

Thank God you are back. I had a psychotic side effect from Topomax last year and I mean really psychotic. I find this site soon after thank God.
