Title: Vibes and advice needed Post by juvy on Oct 27th, 2005, 6:48pm Dear all, First thanks for taking the time to read this. I know I havn't been on much lately. I need vibes for my sister and her family. An electrical fire burned her house to the ground today and she's lost everything. Thankfully she was the only one home and the kids were at school. She did lose two canine family members and a furball kitten. Her wedding dress and all her wedding stuff for the wedding in December...everything. She's has 3 special needs children, a daughter with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome and epilepsy, two visually impaired boys and a foster child who came from a home of abuse. It's amazing that when you hear of this happening to unknown strangers, your heart goes out to them but when it's one of your own, your heart bleeds. I feel so helpless being so far away and unable to jump on a plane and go help. As for advice...does anyone know any agencies around Austin, Texas that could help? They lived in an old farmhouse and the owner didn't have any insurance. The red cross is paying for their hotel room until Monday and given them a gift certificate to Wal Mart for clothes. Thanks, April aka Juvy |

Title: Re: Vibes and advice needed Post by nani on Oct 27th, 2005, 6:56pm The Red Cross should have a list of other agencies that can help, April. Catholic Charities, the Salvation Army, etc. I'm sending a whole bunch of vibes and prayers for them all, hun. She should probably contact CYFD to see if the foster child has any benefits available for a situation like this. hugs, nani |

Title: Re: Vibes and advice needed Post by juvy on Oct 27th, 2005, 7:40pm Thanks Kimmi and Nani. I've checked out the Red Cross website and they have a long list of partner agencies so i hope there are a few branches near Rie and that the Red Cross will continue to help. The foster child isn't via the state. She's taken custody of Kyle from our 2nd cousin. Well, I've been told by both the Texas family and my husband here that I need to rest so I don't exhaust myself or put too much stress on the baby. Goofy people think I'll actually be able to sleep?? I'm just extremely glad and thankful that we didn't lose her or the kids. makes me wish I could reach out and touch them all to make sure they're save....we've lost too many family members and friends lately....okay i'm officially rambling so I'm going to go lay down before I upset the hubby further. I wish you all a good day/night and hope everything is well. April |

Title: Re: Vibes and advice needed Post by Carl_D on Oct 27th, 2005, 10:59pm Sorry to hear about your sisters house. I know that has to be really rough for the kids. Losing everything in a fire is devastating for an adult, but can be very traumatic for a child. Sending all the vibes I can and saying a prayer. Peace, Carl D |
