Thanks with the O2 tips. When I gather the strength I'll put some of the advise together. Gotta get the beast to release first. |

Title: Re: Will somebody tell what...... Post by Carl_D on Oct 20th, 2005, 12:07pm Kim, when I went chronic in '98, all of the previous prevents & aborts didn't work for me anymore. Like Echo said, I think the beast mutates and becomes immune to 'whatever works' for some. Only been aborting for a little over two years now with Imitrex - since it decided to work. Try the o2 tip, and also what Lionsound said - try another form of Triptan. Talk to your doctor too about the level of Verapamil you are on, and ask him if there is any room to increase the dosage. It might help. Peace, Carl |

Title: Re: Will somebody tell what...... Post by catlind on Oct 20th, 2005, 12:52pm If you are following the O2 tips, one other thing you can do is to make sure you are bent over so your head and upper body are parallel to the floor. Not sure why that is a suggestion, but it was one that Dr. Tepper at NECH recommended to Roxy and I. Are you using ice (frozen peas or crushed ice) or heat on your affected side? Cat |

Title: Re: Will somebody tell what...... Post by thebbz on Oct 20th, 2005, 8:45pm Its later now hope your all better [smiley=huh.gif] Looks like you have the aborts, what are you doing for prevent? Wish I could help more, All the best jb BTW: Switching up triptans is not uncommon. Catch the beast off guard and hit him with Relpax or Frova...of course with the docs approval. |

Title: Re: Will somebody tell what...... Post by Melissa on Oct 21st, 2005, 9:42am Kim, sounds like your hitting the trex too late. Waiting to see if the O2 works before injecting would render the trex useless, as when the pain gets to a certain point, nothing can stop it except time. Try doing both the O2 and Trex right away at the onset of the pain. hugs, mel |

Title: Re: Will somebody tell what...... Post by Melissa on Oct 21st, 2005, 10:20am Kim, trex CAN cause rebounds, IMO especially when using the imitrex tip. I use a full dose with mine. Anyway, for me, it was a waste of trex to use O2 first, and then try and kill it with the trex. When I would get hit, I knew if it was going to be a bad one or not, and that's how I'd guage on what I'd use to combat it. If it felt like a doozy, I'd go for the trex 1st. If it seemed one that wasn't so strong, I'd hit the O2 (back when it still worked for me), or I'd grab a couple cigs and sit in the garage to ride it out. The trick for me, was knowing when to use it, and when not to. Takes some practice, but it is possible. Hope this clears it up for you. hugs, mel |

Title: Re: Will somebody tell what...... Post by KMT on Oct 21st, 2005, 10:43am Thanks Melissa that was helpful. Still trying to get use to reading these hits lately have need Trex but have been so afraid to do the whole shot for fear that I won't be able to take it later if need be. Thanks again....Kim |
