Title: tired/frustrated but happy - not CH - A DEER! &nbs Post by burnt-toast on Oct 19th, 2005, 5:15am I've hunted a buck the controls a valley for three archery seasons now. I've watched lesser bucks turn around and go over some rough terrain to avoid cossing his valley. When he was younger and first knew he was the boss, he twice tried to run me out of his valley as I walked in during the dark. I thought his aggression would make him an easy mark. Three years later we're still playing a him Vs me game. He no longer tries chasing me out of his valley, just leaves me calling cards - to the extreme. Seems to get great joy in leaving way too many scrapes and rubs along the same trails I use. When I change up on him and use alternate trails, he's right behind me rubbing and scraping - just letting me know that he knows. Last night he waltzed in under me just after last light and rubbed a small tree within feet of my stand. Kept me on stand for over an hour after last light which got the wife worried because I had not come out. He's a real pip. This may sound strange but for some reason I'm just enjoying this frustration. I kinda hope he doesn't get stupid some day... and if he does... he may have earned one free pass. Tom |
