I am back working in film again. I had quit for some time and a friend asked to come work at his film school teaching make-up. I did and I start my 3rd movie in 3 months next week. The last 2 have been SAG (Screen Actors Guild union) shoots, so we have had a few recognizable names...

Right now I am a day player on lightspeed, a super hero type movie fo the scifi channel directed by Stan Lee... Cool guy. Also Lee Majors and Jason Connery (Sean Connery's son).. Nicole Eggert gave me a hug.

I worked with the FX crew for the last 3 days... There is a "Python" man and Jeff Farley and his brother Ross made the Python prosthetics.. Daniel Goddard (he played Beast Master) was very cool guy, he was great to my kids... there are a few pictures that I will have to upload some of them.

Jeff invited me down to his FX shop in December to work for a week or so. He was key on Babylon 5 for FX and Buffy.. and a ton of other films and series.

On the 17th I start to prep for the next show that I am key make-up on... Searching for Mickey Fish.

Stars William Mapother (Tom Cruises cousin) - he was on "Lost" for a bit.

Daniel Baldwin

Curtis Armstrong - Remember Booger from revenge of the nerds.

Jacke Debatin

and a bunch of locals including me.. I have a small role in it as well.

Project Green Light has chosen a new script. That is Ben Afleck and Matt Damens pet project where they choose the script and then let crews run with it. This one is supposed to be about a heavy set 007 type film... I have a good chance to be on that one.

There is a chance that I could go to Vietnam for 3 months to shoot a movie there too....

DAMN!!!!! things are finally starting to be good again.. Head has behaved rather well.. Still get hit about every 2 weeks, but not like I used to.... I am happy, not counting my marriage, more healthy and running for all I am worth.

Jody, my wife, hates me working in film. I have always been a work-a-holic in what ever I do.. spend late hours to get it done. Film is a little more demanding that others, but Jody hates me doing it. I would think that she would be proud and excited for me, but that is just me.

Anyway... bursting at the seems and thought that I would share and tell you why I have been out of touch for a while...

You have to know how thrilled I am for you! I know how much you love this business, and though I am not familiar with half the people or the projects, I am jumping for joy for you!

I hope Jody will see how happy you are(IMHO, some of the medical issues were as much about your stress and unhappiness), and concede that this is a good thing!

great news Ken sounds like your busy and having fun.
Sorry that your wife is not too happy right now.Their could be many reasons maybe she' afraid for your health that you'll push yourself to hard and be in pain.She may also be missing her time with you so give her extra hugs and some cuddle time.I don't know for sure but like to give the benefit of the doubt.Take care of yourself and have fun.

I gave up the dream years ago for her and I was miserable... Not doing it again.

That is just way too awesome !!!!!! Now if I can catch your films I can tell all my friends I know someone that is in it (pointing you out if I know your part would even be better) and or doin makeup or behind the scenes and BRAG alot about my freind !!!!!!! I think I know some of the reasons yer wife mite not like the actor stuff........alot goes on behind the scenes maybe but man that'd be so cool to be connected with the movies !!!! Can she travel with you also or doesn't she want to. Go for it dude.......opportunity knocks Pam

PS: I was in a movie once.......drove past a adult book store in town and they were picketing daily to run them outa town and some guy was filming the picketers talking to towns people in front of the store as I drove by !!!! Wonder if they were doin a documentary......the bright yellow car was me slowing down stareing at the commotion and wierdo's with nothing better to do or worry about. :o

That was his character name on "Revenger of the Nerds" He always picked his nose...

He called me today, I have been trying to get a hold of him to see what is hair and make-up needs are.. Nice guy.

Has invited me to work with him and learn more of the prosthetics.

He does not like to do on set work. He likes to build and sculpt in his lab... We tlaked about that we could have Lisa and I (my other half that does Key-hair) do staight make-up and hair on set... and back him up to do all of the application of his prosthetics and make-up so he does not have to. He got a big smile on his face.

the straight make-up artist on LightSpeed, well I think that she is straight... Her hairdresser help, he is deffinatley not stragiht... but they were not happy that I was there on set. They had a real problem with me, especially when she found out that I have an Emmy. She complained to Jeff that I should not be on the set. Jeff basically told them that he was incharge of his department, it was his call, to keep their noses out of it and be more professional. I don't know if it is bcause I am a man, or what makes these women so protective and territorial. I was not doing straight make-up... I am not sure that she was either though. The job of the make-up artist is not done once the make-up is applied, then it is watching the actors constantly while they are on camera to see if they are shinny or need touch ups. I was on set for 6 hours and saw her touch up 1 actor once. When they get ready to roll the First assistant director will yell "last looks, or final touches" and that is the cue for the wardrobe, lighting, make-up and everyone else to make sure that everything is set... She never budged.... I had to fight everything in my being not to go in and look to see if it was right.

More news....

Took Jeff farley out to dinner to night. Stan Lee has contracted to do 3-4 more movies and Jeff with be FX on them.... Looks like I will be there as well....

Things are going great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the coolest thing about all of this is that my students... my high school kids get to be apart of it as well. One of my students has spent 5 days on set now with the stan lee film. She will also get to come with me on "Searching for Mickey Fish". I will take about 3-4 others for make-up and about 6 others for other departments. man I wish I could have gone to this school when I was a kid.

BTW any make-up artists here or hair dressers?
