Title: Re: The heat is on!.... Post by kimmeesue on Oct 10th, 2005, 3:26pm This is Kansas, one week we get the cold from Colorado and the next the heat wave from the south. Last week it was near 90 this week barely 60 and 30's at night. We installed a heat pump a couple of years ago so I hope the gas crunch won't kill us. Definitely time to put away the flip flops. |

At about 9:00 PM here in western, NY State, it's about 53 outside. All in all, fall is late this year. Title: Re: The heat is on!.... Post by cootie on Oct 10th, 2005, 8:33pm Put in a new filter and turned my furnace up enuff to come on to kill the chill two weeks ago ! Were in a deep valley and at this time of year hardly NO SUN what so ever till the leaves fall and it can fliter thru the trees on the hill. So it feels alot cooler and damper. This old house isn't that well insulated in the old part either. And I'd never let my pets get cold. House of heck Pam I frickin hate winter ! Wish we could have a cozy wood burner.......can't afford what the insurence co demands. |

Title: Re: The heat is on!.... Chris in icebox country - our faces are pretty resigned; we know the big freeze is on the way. |

Title: Re: The heat is on!.... Post by Jasmyn on Oct 11th, 2005, 3:17am I've got heat. It's supposed to be spring here but we had the fans, ice and aircons running on cold this whole past winter. My chickens are already lying on their backs like cheap women, beaks open in any bit of shade they can get. Forest fires are the news of the day, no rain, not even the neighbours outside after 9am until 4pm. Siesta is again the order of the day as there are not even 1 shop, stall, market open between 12 and 2 midday. Send me some snow! |

Same here Jas, actuall the weather is just brilliant right now with overnight temps at 14C (57F) & day temps of 33C (92F) but it will heat up within the next month and gradually build up to Febraury when we get our high 40s to low 50s (117- 125 F) thats when one does enjoy a coldie on the verandah. Title: Re: The heat is on!.... Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Oct 11th, 2005, 8:12pm Yeah, i was gonna try to go a little longer with no heat, but my wife was complainin so loud i figured it was better to turn it on than to pay for my new eardrums. Temps have been between 40 and 60 here for a couple week. I just flick on the heat in the morning to get the house up to temp, then i turn it off. I took out 3 trees in my yard. Was thinking about putting in a woodstove. Natural gas is up 35% until this year, when it is expected to be up a minimum of another 20%. Its getting so its more efficient to have electric heat than a highly efficient gas furnace. Damn shame. BMonee |

Title: Re: The heat is on!.... Post by lionsound on Oct 11th, 2005, 8:35pm Came home from a weekend away house was only 61 degrees--eek! gave my frugal hubby a look and without asking turned on the heat. (he would leave the place at sub-zero) We do have a wood/coal stove in the kitchen for extra. |

Title: Re: The heat is on!.... Post by Lizzie2 on Oct 11th, 2005, 8:49pm Well since I don't control my own heat - I don't have it yet. Lots and lots of blankets and also layers. Can't wait till the heat comes on! :) |

Title: Re: The heat is on!.... Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Oct 11th, 2005, 9:03pm Oh, correction, I just heard on Fox news that natural gas is expected to be up 30 to 50% this year, depending on where you live. I was incorrect earlier when i said it would only be up 20% this year, after a 35% increase in the last 4 years. Big fucking bummer BMonee |

Title: Re: The heat is on!.... Post by LadyElaine on Oct 12th, 2005, 6:25am LMAO I got that pictured in my mind Jonny! No heat here yet! Still running the air. We are total electric here, no Gas. We have a fire Place and plan to use it this year. I am looking forward to winter. I keep the air down Low durning the summer, makes my electric bill high, I pay any where from $250 to $300 a month in the summer. The winter it droups to $150 ! I like the cold weather better than the hot weather. As long as I have power and can get warm I like the cold. |
