Title: So, what'cha listening to / watching this week?
Post by Carl_D on Oct 6th, 2005, 9:40pm
It has been a very long interesting couple of weeks, so my viewing and listening has beenas scatterbrained as my splatterbrain. Sorry, I suffer from musical schtizophrenia, lol. [smiley=inlove.gif] [smiley=headbanger.gif]

STYX - Pieces of Eight (cause I am old. I love this disc. Once had the 8-track)  :o
The Beatles - Alternate Revolver (bootleg)
Max Webster - Universal Juveniles
Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick
Josh Groban - Closer
2nd Chapt of Acts w/ Phil Keaggy: Live '77 - How The West Was One
Billy Thorpe - Children of the Sun
Rush - Permanent Waves
Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance
Arch Enemy - Nemesis
My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge

Getting ready to watch movies later. Been doing that to try and put myself to sleep at night. Been grabbing a couple of hours here and there, and think this new muscle relaxer helps me drift off.

Yesterday and last night I did the Charles Manson marathon, starting with the original 3 1/2 version from 1976 with Manson's character being brought scarily to life by Steve Railsback, who also did a fantastic job as his portrayal of serial killer Ed in "Ed Gein." Then last night I watched the disturbing remake which grossed over some details and glossed the shock effects. While an accurate portrayal of the Manson Family, this remake will probaby be too revealing for those close to the victim's families, or those who followed the trial.

Tonight I will watch happier movies after the news.
"Top Secret!" With Val Kilmer (Think Airplane!)
Then maybe a happy viewing of "Shining"  ;;D
If I'm not too tired after Top Secret, I may watch "the Last Starfighter." I haven't seen it in years.

What'choo occupying yer head with?

Woahhhh Nelllly! A couple of years ago I had an acoustic act called "Twin Rivers" and we'd do songs acoustically that weren't originally for guitar. We used to do "One Tin Soldier" and nobody recognized it. Only a few older folks knew what it was.

Sounds like a cool compilation disc Cat

Is he related to that other magicain.......David Blaine is it ? Ones radical and ones more quiet type. Both look so much alike.......what's up with that and then they both the same nationality and same type of magic ? Good but STRANGE ! Bazaar stuff I watched this week. Inky dink magic show'r Pam

Criss Angel: MINDFREAK!

That dude is fucking incredible and makes David Blaine look like a cheesehead.

He once did a collaboration with Klay Scott (I knew him when he was little Scott Albert) of Circle of Dust and the music/magic act was named Angel Dust. One of their shows was very shocking.

Criss Angel is a great performance artist and magician.

Hey, any chance anyone here might be able find a copy of a Little River Band song called Lead Me to Water???

Cat (p.s. I'm an aquarian born during a flood and grew up on the St. Clair River in the Great Lakes Region...water themes keep turning up LOL )

Lyrics are:

Feeling like winter
Is this the way it’s meant to be
Stare out my window
I see nothing but the trees
I don’t like this feeling
Just me on the border
I just want to feel like home
Lead me to water, show me life
Reach for that something that I can’t find
Take hold of my hand, bring me home tonight
Lead me to water
Walk to the daylight
I see the end so far away
Break through tomorrow
It’s just a game we all must play
She is so many memories
She was all I ever knew
I just wanna feel like home
Lead me to water, show me life
Reach for that something that I can’t find
Take hold of my hand, bring me home tonight
Lead me to water
Better lead me to water
Lead me to water, show me life
Reach for that something that I can’t find
Take hold of my hand, bring me home tonight
Lead me to water, show me life
Reach for that something that I can’t find
Take hold of my hand, bring me home tonight
Lead me to water

Listening to:  Sliding of skates, slapping of pucks, hard breathing and men attempting to get that little back rubber disk into the net, and an occasionaly whistle.

Watching: Where these idiots are shooting the puck so as the referee I can stay the hell out of the way.  Referees don't wear the body armor the players do, and when the players get pissed at the calls they somewhat use us as target practice when clearing the zone.

I realize this has nothing to do with music but decided to put it in anyway. Anyone who has a problem with this can call 1800WHOGIVESASHIT and make a complaint.

Mel I love that song! David made me a tape of it to play in the car on the way to court when my ex kept trying to take me backwards and forwards to court every week - it really helped (and I won every time!)

I've had Thin Lizzy's greatest hits and Elton Johns The Bitch is back going on today but thats all

They are the kind of band that grows on you. I didn't care for them at first but my friend Maggie got "One Fierce Beercoaster" on CD and it was one of the funniest (and most disturbing) albums ever. With songs like "Kiss Me Where It Smells Funny" and a hip hop happy tune called "Lift Your Head Up High And Blow Your Brains Out."

Ah, such inspirational classics. I must warn you though, Bloodhound Gang is not for everyone. Some will be confused by them, others will write them off as white rapper eminem wannabesm so they are shelved into the alternative metal rap subgenre. How can you hate a band who has a song title like "Rip Taylor Is God!"

I went back to Seether cd in my truck on the way to the soggy wet raining all day and nite weekend campout. Needed to warm up from the inside out. What a weekend to have a group campout.....so much for Indian summer......more like Indian duck weather. BTW....while were hittin and missin on the subject of magic......how the HELL does Blaine do that levitation ? He raises up TOO high to be a trick on his toes cuz he turns around to do it in front of you then sometimes falls and acts like it drained him and he's gonna pass out. People watchin him were freakin and SWORE he did not use any devices or wires. Or are they paid liers ?? He went up about a foot. And then the Angel Mindfreak dude swollow'd a quarter (supposidly) then it travel'd under his skin along his forearm and he used a knife and cut above the wrist and dig it out....blood and laceration and all. I realize it is some sort of trick......but HOW THE HELL does he do that ? He swollow'd a string and pulled it out of his eye too.....he was tuggin on it too. Grossed me out. But they are both awesome magicians but it is DRIVEING ME NUTS how they did that ???? Usually I have an idea. Didn't mean ta be a highjacker wacker Pam
