Title: Cutting Teeth Post by unsolved1 on Oct 4th, 2005, 11:05pm [_] [_] Literally !! I've got 2 teeth that are KILLIN' me !! I went to the dentist this morning, he says they gotta come out - they're absessed (sp). I wouldn't let him pull them so I got an appt with a surgeon to cut them out on the 18th. This really sucks !! I finally got my head to stop pounding and now this. I must have done something really bad in a past life !! Anyone have any GOOD stories to tell me that'll ease my mind about having this done ? UNsolved <---- suckin' on a tube of orajel :-/ |

Title: Re: Cutting Teeth Post by BikerBob on Oct 4th, 2005, 11:20pm If you have an absess you need to start taking antibiotics immediately, like Clindamycin. It will clear up the absess within 2-3 days and relieve the pain. Then you can get the teeth pulled later. Call your doc or dentist first thing in the morning and have him call in a script to your pharmacy and get on it. BB |

Title: Re: Cutting Teeth Post by BikerBob on Oct 4th, 2005, 11:45pm Also, use warm salt water rinses in your mouth to help. See: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001060.htm BB |

Title: Re: Cutting Teeth Post by Barry_T_Coles on Oct 5th, 2005, 3:03am An old pain killer for tooth ache is to crush a fresh clove between the tooth that's aching and the one below or above, works a real charm. Or if your like me and dont have the teeth in close proximity you can use clove oil, should be able to get it from your drug store and cheap. Clove as in what you put in apple pie. Barry |

Title: Re: Cutting Teeth Post by LeLimey on Oct 5th, 2005, 3:24am I'll definitely join BB in recommending the salt water, if you have the water as hot as you can stand it (not very hot in my case!) and dissolve as much salt in it as you can and swooosh it around your mouth before SPITTING IT OUT! Don't forget that bit.. its important! ::) It sounds like it is going to sting like crazy but it doesn't sting at all, I do this when I get mouth ulcers (from some meds) and you won't believe the relief it gives until you try it. It really helps. Good luck Gappy Gob! |

Title: Re: Cutting Teeth Post by yikes-another-one on Oct 5th, 2005, 6:10am If you are lucky, they give ya steroids to prevent swelling, and that will take the CH pain away for a while. :D I hd wisdom teeth out in April, and 3 blissful days with no CH :-* (Chronic here.... :P) Besides, tooth pain is a blip on the pain scale. :-X You can deal with that a whole lot better. (PS I also had some sort of pain killer, but used it only once, hoping to kill the headaches... [smiley=huh.gif] but of course, it didn't do a thing. ::) But at least Advil works for tooth pain. :-/ Best of luck! Keep your chin up. ;) TJ |

Title: Re: Cutting Teeth Post by giffy76 on Oct 5th, 2005, 7:06am A bottle of Wild Turkey. Take a drink, swish it around and swollow. Repeat this 12 times within 10 minutes, you wont feel a thing [smiley=me&mb.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] I'm no doctor though, so do this at your own risk :P |

Title: Re: Cutting Teeth Post by unsolved1 on Oct 5th, 2005, 7:17am LOL Giffy. That would probably work too ! [smiley=laugh.gif] I don't know if it'll help my head any though :-/ I think I'll try the salt water first though UNsolved |

Title: Re: Cutting Teeth Post by nani on Oct 5th, 2005, 8:25am Sometimes a little peroxide in water (don't forget to spit) helps, too. The best thing about having teeth pulled is that they stop hurting after that. Hang in there, Michael. hugs, nani |

Title: Re: Cutting Teeth Post by Jeepgun on Oct 5th, 2005, 8:31am Hang in there, Michael. I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled, under general anasthesia, in the late 80's. That was a hell of a lot of fun... LOL I concur with the salt-water and clove suggestion. My best to you... Hang tough! |

Title: Re: Cutting Teeth Post by Charlie on Oct 5th, 2005, 9:55pm Hurts I know but soon the antibiotic will kick in. Wonderful stuff but don't do what my aunt used to do. She got the infection down and sat with it until it flared up again and again. Those were the old days though when you could find a doctor who was not afraid of his own shadow. You're gonna be okay. I had one removed that way and never needed the narcotic pills for pain. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/jackhammer.gif Charlie |
