Title: 2 trips to ER Post by giffy76 on Sep 30th, 2005, 9:32am Yesterday at 3:00 pm I got home from work to find out that my wife had to take my son to the ER due to head trauma from a rock thrown by the nieghbor girl (accident) It wasn't bad, but it was bloody! Anyways, after a tetnus shot they came home and the rest of the evening went without complications, until 2:53 am when he woke up screaming in a panick because he couldn't breath so I took him outside in the cool air and got him calmed down and began throwing up [smiley=huh.gif] This is were the 2nd trip comes into play. We took him to the ER and explained to the dip shit doc what was going on and he kept saying, I don't believe you, Anthony was telling him what he felt and the dumb ass kept telling him, I don't believe you. After a few not so nice words with dr. shit stain and a ct scan, we had a boy with 103 temp. fluid in his lungs and really pissed off parents. Basically, they told us nothing, gave us tylenol and sent us home. [smiley=wtf.gif] any of you nurses have any suggestions? |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by rickyshot on Sep 30th, 2005, 9:38am OMG. Suggestion one Do not go back to that hospital but do get the docs name in case of a suit God forbid. two: do you have a pediatrician. Take your child there and explain what happened along with the diagnosis you received. Throwing up after a head injury is not to be played with. Sounds like a minor concussion but you have to be sure and the fever worries me Menegitis??? in coincidence with the injury? Not sure here. |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by Jeepgun on Sep 30th, 2005, 10:19am Yeah... The fluid in the lungs is worrisome. Throwing up after a head injury is usually indicative of a concussion. Either way: Not good. [smiley=huh.gif] |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by cootie on Sep 30th, 2005, 10:55am Um yeah......the throwing up part after a head injury would worry me too unless he was just so upset with the pain it made him stressed and sick which CAN happen with some types of people. Did they give him somethin AT the hospital he could of had a reaction to I wonder ? I've heard of fluid buildin up in time with patients that do not move around enuff bed ridden or prone to 'pnemonia' or comeing down with it ? I sat in the ER for 4 hours with a broken foot.....felt stupid as hell but the nurses at my docs office YELLED at me that is where I should of went and the bone was still makein crunch noises. The doc checked it out after goin thru the many fazes if ER admittance. He looked at it and said it probly wasn't broke and just sprained ???? WHAT.....it was swollen and turning BLACK and some blue and you could hear it crunch when ya touched it or moved it. Couldn't move some of it. So he did verify it was broke much later as I sat there useing up a ER room for something stupid. Dumb doctors abound Pam Good luck and get it checked out by a real doc.....that one probly didn't want to work......probly needed a cigarette.......or hit of coke.........hope the boy is ok !!!!! PS: wonder why the doc said he 'didn't beleive you'.....could it be cause he thought sumthing else happend (like abuse which is totally rediculous in this cae) or did he think ya's was liein to make it sound better to get ER care verses a docs apt and miss work ? Just wondering why he'd of said that ???? |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by giffy76 on Sep 30th, 2005, 11:28am Called the family doc this morning and he said there is a virus going around that affects the lungs and that it should run its cours in 24/48 hours. The ER doc siad the boy is not concussed and it is 2 sepeate things going on, for some reason, I just don't trust the ER dip shit. I called the wife to see how he was doing and she said he's doing much better, He ate some chicken soup and kept it down so hopefully he just had a bug. Cootie, they were questioning us about abuse because in may we had him in the ER for a dislocated elbow, he got that at school messing around with a bully. They asked how this incident occured luckily we brought the nieghbor girl with us and she said verry loudly." I hit him in the head with a rock " she's the typical 11yr old Blonde [smiley=laugh.gif] DUH!!!! She felt really bad and cried the whole time. I tried to post this once and it just dissapeared, has that ever happened to anyone else? |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by cootie on Sep 30th, 2005, 11:46am I wonder'd if mybe that doc in the ER last nite was skepticle on what really happen'd and bein a DICK......you must of had Dr. Doolittle. Maybe the stress of the accident dropped his immune system just enuff to let that virus take over. That's how it usually works.....your immune system is EVERYTHING and has alot to do with wether you get something or not alot of times. (depending on what it is but with alot of bugs this is how it works). That's probly how he got sick at the same time. He had been exposed but his immune system kept it at bay. I studied that sorta stuff for years reading and reseach online.....esp concerning the animals. (pups can get all sorts of bad shit if stressed out.......and people come back on you if it happens so I gotta keep on top of it) Hope he is feeling better and his noggin heals without a scar. Otherwise when he gets older he will be standing around a bonfire with freinds telling this same story explaining the scar. Ha-ha-ha.........tall tales Pam Edit cuz my spelling sucks......must of been that snowball/iceball I got hit with in the eye as a kid :P |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by Lizzie2 on Sep 30th, 2005, 11:58am Aw man! Do you have any other hospitals around? I know I got mad at a blue cross rep once because he told me I needed to go to a network hospital when I lived in State College then was astonished that we only have one hospital or have to drive forever. haha So if that's your situation and you have to go back to that nuthouse, please please request another doctor. That's more than acceptable. I'd also recommend writing a complaint for the way he treated you and sending it to their director of Emergency Department. It really is highly unacceptable that you got that treatment!!! Trust me I wrote out a 3 page complaint letter once, but never mailed it because my family said it would come back to haunt me since I work in the same hospital. Was seeing red over some very bad and dangerous ER/neuro mismanagement. Just think that your speaking up could save some other poor family's child or other members! Keep us posted on how your son is! Wonder if I'm not fighting some similar bug as I still can't get rid of my lung junk - but this has been no 24/48 hours! It's almost 2 weeks already.... Only 2 days of antibiotics so far so I guess I need to wait and see if it gets better! I hit my brother in the mouth with a RockLord when we were both little and chipped his tooth. I cried lots too!!!! haha If nobody remembers RockLords, they were similar to Transformers - rocks that opened up into some sort of fighting guy. We were in the car on a very long trip and I got mad at him and threw it at him. LOL Really hope he's feeling better soon!!!! Carrie :) |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by Karla on Sep 30th, 2005, 11:58am I would go back to the ER and demand to see a different dr. and get the first drs name in case of lawsuit, and then get the second opinion. Good luck. |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by cootie on Sep 30th, 2005, 12:13pm This isn't a big town here in the land of WOO.......so the late nite docs can be a bit TESTY and so many people are into goin to the ER verses a normal apt they get worse about how they treat ligit cases. Wooster has alot of deception........I suppose most towns to. (giffs from my town) But there are alot of people around here lookin for a lawsuit for financial gain. I happen to know a few of them. Suppose there wasn't really anything more that ER doc could of done excpet be a bit more sypathetic. The world seems to run short on that these days Pam |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by Lizzie2 on Sep 30th, 2005, 12:33pm Coots- All sympathetic-ness aside (yes I make up new words when extraordinarily tired lol)...he should have at the very least addressed all the medical concerns. I don't think it's right that he said "I don't believe you." I mean WTF is that?? There are a lot of people who come to the ER with a crapload of unbelievable things going on - but that's the puzzle - gotta at least take their word until you rule out a real problem. And with a child....that's just wrong. :-/ And wayyyyy too many people use the ERs for general stuff that could easily wait for a trip to the family doc....but - hell it's free (sort of) - and the waits are very long at the health district clinics....almost as long as the wait for the ER hehe |
||
Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by cootie on Sep 30th, 2005, 12:41pm Oh yeah.....that's what I ment......the doc should of been alot more sympathtic to the case and checked him out throughly leaveing the snide remarks to himself. I think some docs get too COLD HEARTED to the facts. The boy definetly has some alarming effects goin on to be takein in !!!! I know people that take there kid to the ER at least 2 to 4 times a month and it is cover'd on there insurence. Pisses me off.......they basically get FREE service out of it. The kid is goin to grow up wierd thinkin every stubbed toe is an emergency in my opinion. Sayin he didn't beleive the kid was very SNIDE Pam |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by giffy76 on Sep 30th, 2005, 12:55pm I agree, if the jerk off would have had some bedside manner I might not have told him off, Oh well, I get a kick out of making squirley skinny smart asses like that douche bag squirm a little. I'll bet when his shift was over he had the security guard escort him to his car [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by cootie on Sep 30th, 2005, 5:22pm Speakin of skinny squirrely docs.....the one my docs office sent me to for my foot when I broke it sounds like him. He'd walk into the room and start to talk and you could almost clock him to give you 5 minutes then he'd get up and start to walk out still talking.....if you had questions he would walk backwards explaining and then stop in the doorway and split. You could NOT nail that guy down for a little MORE time ! Then he couldn't explain why I can't feel half my foot now or balance on it at all and it hurts like hell and blamed it on my back ? Then I got the bills and he put I broke my chest in so many words.......everything said chest !!!! I went back several times then thought to myself WHY cuz he never did tell me anything other then it was broke and healing slow. (nasty spiral break) Glad he didn't put how I broke it on the billing cuz fallin off the dryer got everyone's attention. Too short to reach tall Pam Hope junior is doin good now giff......... |

Title: Re: 2 trips to ER Post by Charlie on Sep 30th, 2005, 5:48pm Keep us posted. No matter how serious or trivial a complaint, the sawbones are supposed to display some concern if just to keep things from getting out of hand. Lately it seems that we are lucky if they show just a tiny bit of interest. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/slap.gif Charlie http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/chemist.gif |
