You can see that this one was bigger than a minivan and almost as big as the garage.

Cool pic Paul, I saw one today in the yard too. I was standing over it and I put my finger about an inch from its face. If I moved my finger to the left his head would follow and vice versa, they are difinately awesome creatures  ;;D

Cheers  [smiley=me&mb.gif]

Cool Paul, I don't think we have them here either. A bug with teeth on it's legs, it looks sinister and evil. What a great pic.

Way cool pic, Paul.

Don't Mantis females bite the head off their mates after a night of bug sex?  Is that what Nani was noting in her post?

... "No dear, no cigarette for me, but off with your head!"

Well.... kinda but not really, but maybe:

Yup, surprisingly quick and powerful.  On this webpage are pics I took... the one eating the butterfly captured it with one leg (missing the other leg):

https://home.comcast.net/~vampiresun/mantids.htm

It must suck to be eaten alive.  They go for the 'neck' first.

By the way... the male mating the female actually finished the job and escaped with his life... LOL.  But he was smart.... he went for a quickie while she was eating.

Check this out (I 'Snoped' it out):

and this one:

She probably thought it was one of these:

That's life.  Take what you can get.

(Damn I'm in the wrong line of work...)
