Title: Has anyone talked to den or Georgia
Post by DonnaHar on Sep 22nd, 2005, 10:55am
on the phone?  I tried, but there's no answer so I hope that means they've evacuated to a safer place.

If not, we've just got to do something to get them out of harms way because.......well, just because.

If we could all Western Union them $20.00 to Mongtomery, they could pick it up in 15 minutes and be on their way.

The clock is ticking.......is this a good idea, or not?

Did you try the home phone or cell number? G said last night they rarely pick up the landline. I am getting ready to start my day and as soon as I can get to a phone I'm calling (not on dialup here, using cable modem... I know, that sounds backwards doesn't it?)

Peace,
Carl D

Yes!  Donna, great idea!  I don't know how to do this from Canada though - can you email me please and show me how? We've somehow got to get word to them, though, if it's going to work.

I'm SO worried about them!  They have a 5 month old baby and a handicapped son.  They've GOT to find a way to get out there.   :'(

look at this path....it's going to go RIGHT through Montgomery county!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7845030/

update:  I've got Den on the phone right now!  It's not a matter of not being able to afford to get out, it's logistics.  Traffic jams.  Geogia said it's taking people 24 hours to go a distance that would just normally take half an hour.  She's promised they will let us know as soon as possible that they're ok.  Adam is with his mom.  Den said they've got enough supplies to last them a couple weeks but they don't know how long their c-cell batteries will hold out.

Please keep them in your prayers.

Just go to www.WesternUnion.com and click where it says  "send money".  The instructions are easy.  You'll need to register with a ID name and password.

He can pick it up anywhere so just say it's going to Montgomery.  I think that's where he said he lives.  I have to go back to his post........in a hurry now as I have to leave for work.  Somebody will have to get word to him that we are doing this.  I am sending mine right now.  Even if something is left of his house, he will need it to rebuild.

I'm so worried.

God please take care of all those in this monster's way.

ok I let Den know what's going on.  He's got the house AND the car boarded up now.  They live in a frame house.  He's thinking they will be ok.

They were SO appreciative that you started this, Donna.   :-*

p.s.  Den answered the phone"Hurricane Central.  Would you like fries with that?"  LOL typical Den.  ::)

Just talked to Den, he said goodbye so he could kill a snake ... Georgia found it in the wood pile.

The closest Western Union he says is probably in Montgomery, not too far from where he is, but with the traffic, inaccessible.

He does have a paypal button though at letmeshine.net
If you want to send anything (I'm sure there will be a need regardless after this mess), you can click that PayPal button and send it on through.  It's on this page... http://www.letmeshine.net/donations.shtml

Oh and Margi, Den did answer the phone with a crazy accent and a line but I could barely understand the man I was laughing so hard... I think he said something dirty and mean.

Damn great sense of humor. If you do call them, phone lines are working, on and off, they're supposed to have call waiting, but the lines are acting up.

How far from the coast are they ? I can look it up on mapquest I guess but with slow dialup it'll take a while. HOPE they are spared and get thru ok.....anti-hurricaneic vibes to there house Pam

Wouldn't worry bout the snake.....it'll prolly end up in a wind gust sailing into someone elses woodpile.......

Does anyone have info on all the clusterheads that are in the houston and texas coast line area?  Perhaps we can set up a recovery fund for all of them so that they can at least access funds for additional living expenses in the immediate aftermath and not have to wait on insurance companies and aid??

It sounds like Den and family can't get out, but they will surely need help after wards, as will others from this board, any thoughts on setting up a recovery fund?
