Title: How bad will they screw us this time???
Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Sep 22nd, 2005, 8:05am
I stopped for gas this morning and filled my car and my gas can for $2.59 a gallon.

I bet it will be over $3.00 by lunch. Any takers on the bet?

You're probably right, but it's been over $3 here for weeks, so I'm actually feeling kinda jealous of you right now...  [smiley=laugh.gif]

They just opened up a new gas station where I live and the gas was at $2.86 - there was a 3 block line of cars waiting to gas up... :-/

We were paying $9.00 a gallon until last week when it went up to $10, but that matters little because there's now none to buy.  (Weather's been awful.)

Thank goodness there's alternatives to being beholden to an automobile.

That is the only reason I would consider living in a city, to rid myself of the automobile.

Local Radio says here.. (Florida).. that all the Oil Riggs are shut down & evacuated... after the Hurricane they have to be inspected and brought back On-Line ....

So it will take this almost 2 weeks to get the Riggs going again... So they are saying that will decrease oil & gas output by 78%.... "Expect the price of Reg. Gas to be near $4.00 a gallon by the end of the weekend.. "

I can't even believe it... But if you check the stock exchange the price is moving like a ticking clock... going up & up

God Bless

actually - i dont give a shit about gas prices.  I have a house, and a warm bed at night to sleep in.  I am not in any hurricane's path.   I have a job - and so does my husband.
And I know where my family is.

I'll pay the gas prices.

know what i mean???

LOL - that's one way of looking at it.
That's not what I meant, however.

All I meant was that I know what I have - and I'm grateful for it.

I also understand that when hurricanes go thru the Gulf, it puts the rigs out of business for a while, and it affects the gas prices, and the natural gas production .... so - it's no none's fault... it's not like they are out to screw us - it's just another one of the things that happens when mother nature shows us who's boss.

We're going to pay huge costs for heat this winter... and huge gas prices.   But - like I said - I'm just glad to have a home to heat and a car to drive to a job that I still have.

that's all i meant.

you can bitch all you want......... i dont care.  It's just my personal choice not to.    And I wont.   I may be broke this winter... but I'll still be grateful for what I have.

I feel the same Woobs but either way it is just WRONG they take advantage of bad situations and GO FOR IT......think how rich they get in such little time. What if we all did that !? Say I charge 800 bucks for pups.......food doubles......resturants and movie theaters double prices and stores do the same......we'd HAVE to pay it......but......what if that started to happen ? Everyone would then RUSH to stock up when they heard of a disaster in the makeing and we'd all be effected with traffic jams and runnin out of food and gas and places close for a few weeks that can't afford to pay for supplies. It'd snowball......it'd reek havoc on EVERYONE for a few weeks before dureing and after. The American way gone wrong Pam

I understand... but I know its not right forthem to do it, but we should be bitchin at the Goverenment, not each other....

I did not take an offence, I am very happy that we have been so lucky this year so far, with all the disasters going on....

I didn't mean to come across like that.. Sorry...

God Bless Ya's

Yep, the price of gas is going up. That is to expected at this time. What I don't like is paying tomorrow's price for gas that was put in the store tanks at yesterday's prices.  >:(

I was at Check Auto Store yesterday and guess what?
They are out of gas cans and siphon hoses. (aka Missouri credit card).

I heard on the radio that to justify $3.00 a gallon that our oil companies would have to be paying $95 a barrel, last I knew it was only 60 something a barrel.

Not sure if its true, but if it is we are taking a major fucking from the big five.....Bastards!!!!

It's been something like $3.20 or so around here for weeks.

Criminals. Maybe we can learn from this.

Here is one thing that you can do if you want to buy gas from  companies that do not import oil, if you have to spend it anyway at least give it to a company which all its workers are American, and they buy their oil from individual that own their own wells. If you live in the south you know that alot of people own a well or two or lease their mineral rights to these companies. They are not getting rich off their wells and even if they were I would rather a neighbor was getting it than some middle eastern country.

These are the companies that import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell at 205,742,000 barrels

Chevron/Texaco at 144,332,000 barrels

Exxon/Mobil at 130,082,000 barrels

Marathon/Speedway at 117,740,000 barrels

Amoco at 62,231,000 barrels

Here are the companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

ARC0 at 0 barrels

BP/Phillips at 0 barrels

Conoco at 0 barrels

Hess at 0 barrels

Sinclair at 0 barrels

Sunoco at 0 barrels

The Department of Energy makes available to the public this data. Each company must report
where they get their oil and how much they are importing to this country.

To make a major impact, this information has to be disseminated far and wide — to literally
millions of gas consumers. It’s time that the media gave out this detail to the grassroots now.

$4000 for a months worth of fuel would take a huge cut out of our profits....Our fuel is off-road and is not taxed, wonder what we would have to pay if it was? I would do the math but it would be to depressing............

I tell you who the crooks are, its the damn service station owners. They only should charge us 10 to 15 cents over what they pay. The day they went up here. They went up on the gas they already had in their tanks.
They did not pay a high price for that gas. There were two stations here that did not go up and one of them was Wal Mart. That is who I will buy my gas from, the other was a little store down in the next town over.

Does Lukoil import from the middle east?

Cheapest I've paid for gas since Katrina was $3.19.

But I take the train most days.  Amtrak is raising prices but Septa hasn't...yet! :)  Will be driving for work next week because I work nights and don't feel safe walking from the train station to the hospital down a very nasty street in center city Philly.

Carrie :)
