Title: Waitin for the wind Post by rumplestiltskin on Sep 21st, 2005, 10:37pm I figure i'll lose electricity as soon as Rita landfalls. There's a hundred mile long traffic jam runnin through town. We can't afford to go anywhere. So supplies are in....never did get all the batteries I wanted...empty shelves....panically speakin. All my windows wil be boarded up tomorrow and we will sit in this little frame house in the woods as 100+ winds roar for around 12 hours. I picked a helluva time in my life to go agnostic...but if there is a God he's pretty fucked up so I prefer to say "shit happens"...no reason...it just happens. We still have a thousand Katrina folks here. They must feel chased. Look up Montgomery Tx. if ya wanna see where we are hiding. Fuck the Red Cross ....send money to me 9819 N Lake View Montgomery Tx. 77316 I ppromise every red cent will go directly to a hurricane victim...me. Call my cell in the middle of it for some excitement 936-537-7311 if it still works you get to hear Georgia screaming. I'm goin over to chat now...I rarely chat...but tonight is special hunker down den |

Title: Re: Waitin for the wind Post by marty on Sep 22nd, 2005, 5:38am Hi Den We are in Belton, not that much further north but a little bit. You are welcome up here if you can make it. The latest is that it will; remain a hurrican until it reaches Waco wich is 40 minutes north of here and we should be on the "good" side of the hurricane since we are west of I-35. We live on a hillside so there is not risk of flooding. Belton and Temple are turning into a mini-Houston with everybody coming up this way to ride it out. Let me know, you can call me at (240)925-7898 Marty |

Title: Re: Waitin for the wind Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Sep 22nd, 2005, 9:41pm Den, you are like 80 or 90 miles inland, that should be safe enough. GL to you. BMonee edited to say: Dude, im no expert, but i would think that honda is gonna get pulverized under that wood. The wind is gonna shake the wood, no? I dont know man, I would rather let debris hit my car then have the debris i PUT on my car fuck it up. Lemme know how it works out. |

Title: Re: Waitin for the wind Post by rumplestiltskin on Sep 22nd, 2005, 10:26pm theres a gap between the wood and the windows. I'm in the middle of a forest. Just tryin to keep glass that comp insurance don't cover. We could give a shit about the paint job....i had to do something with my spare time. Steel cables will anchor the noah's fark. I hope it floats if it flips. Georgia was impressed. They turned the south lanes into north lanes...whatta trip...16 lanes of non moving traffic. You can literally walk faster. They are opening shelters just to serve the traffic folks. Gas is becoming such an issue. SO many are running out of gas...and they are deep in the danger zone still. People living next to the highways are going out and bringing water and whatever folks need...the local tv is full of great stories about folks helpin each other. Some old lady broke down and the local tv told about it and instantly there was a crowd of every race, age and culture there to help. now they are showin some guy washin his car...oh great...now it's sure to rain. It's a still warm clear night....not a wisp of a breeze. Georgia said "Imagine being a pioneer and not have any idea what is 12 hours away" stuck to the earth den |

Title: Oh shit Post by rumplestiltskin on Sep 23rd, 2005, 9:42pm Mother fucker. The winds have started here now...its is about 9:30pm and they are gusting at about 35 miles an hour. We still have power and water, but are assured that will not last much longer. It is going to be a long night...and a long, dark day tomorrow. We are as ready as we can be...everything boarded up, water in every conceivable container, canned food, candles, flashlights, bottle of Cuervo Gold, camp stove, propane, radio, margarita mix, cell phones charged...blah blah. It looks like Rita is calming a bit and moving further East, which is great news for us. We are still going to get one hell of a storm...and possible tornadoes...but its not supposed to be as bad as it could be. Unless of course, she turns, or the weather men are full of shit. I am scared shitless, trying to remain calm. I am planning on be drunk the entire time. I need to start NOW. Thank you all for thinking of us. We will try to get back online as soon as we can. Don't know if the phone lines will hold up or not. If so, feel free to call: D's cell: 936-537-7311 G's cell: 936-537-0452 Landline: 936-597-4801 Shit. I just read my own post and its awfully depressing. Need to lighten things....Jonny, you're an not a very nice person. That didn't even do it. Sorry, just not feeling chipper. I'll try again after the tequila. Love you all, Georgia |
