Thats easy! Title: Re: If it was up to you and.... Post by Pinkfloyd on Sep 21st, 2005, 1:30am I guess my question would be.... Since the son was working hurricane watch and he was calling all the city officials "to no avail", then obviously the "watch" is about all they were doing, so.....why didn't the son go get his mother out of there on the 28th. There was staff that was left there and helping as many people as they could get onto the roof, floating on mattresses etc. I would think that either the son or SOMEONE the guy knew (how about the crier) could have gone and taken one of those buses, pre flood, and picked up not only the residents, but the staff, to help care for them as they trucked north to safety. I'm guessing there is plenty of guilt going on down there for things done and not done. Guilt is often expressed as anger toward others, trying to lay blame somewhere other than where it will ultimately end up, on the backs and in the minds of those that failed to act. How many unanswered calls for help must one make to save your own mother, before you decide to do it yourself? There's a million sad and/or maddening stories down there. This is just one. :( Bobw |

Title: Re: If it was up to you and.... Post by burnt-toast on Sep 21st, 2005, 7:08am He may not have broken any laws but if this is truely the case, he needs to somehow be held accountable. Why haven't some of the major National TV services jumped all over this and reported on it? At the very least he needs to be brought back for a follow up - Nationally televised, interview to explain why he used such a disturbing ploy. A public apology and public humiliation in front of the entire world he cried to seems the best punishment if he hasn't broken any laws. If he did break laws - he should face criminal prosecution. In the alternative if what he said was truthful, a follow up interview will provide opportunity to defend himself. If he was straight-up and honest I'll tip my hat to him again for his openess. If this was just a bunch of crap, humiliate him publically and prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law. I believe individuals are innocent until proven guilty - but strongly believe the guilty need to be hammered for their misdeeds, not ignored, not pampered and not excused due to extenuating circumstances.
