Title: My new neuro Post by Tiannia on Sep 19th, 2005, 1:59pm Well, I think it went well. He did not tell me that I can not be having headaches like I am describing. Nor did he throw meds at me. I went over the meds that I have tried. As well as the other treatments. ie RFG and physical therapy. He is going to get my file and MRI from last summer and the other Neuro. And I go in Oct 3rd for an EEG, Trascranial Doppler and a Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potenial. He says that he will not say that I have or dont have clusters at this point. Because if it is cluster then there is really no treatment for it. We know that I have Occipital Nueralgia right now and that it is triggering at least some of the HA that I have. He thinks that I might be having mulitple types of headaches that are compounding. So we have to "get the pieces fit toghether to help" me feel better. He says that he has daily chronic headaches as well and that he can tell by looking into someone eyes whrn they talk about them if they are having that type of pain. I felt like crying because I was so scared that I was going to get all the pat ansers that "I am a woman and there is no way that you are having those tyoe of Headaches" or "Well, I am not sure how to trreat this so try X med and see me in a month." I wanted to let you all know what was going on. The information here is such a great help especially when the doctor actually listens to me. Thank you all for your support and thoughts. /huggs Tia |

Title: Re: My new neuro Post by yikes-another-one on Sep 19th, 2005, 4:08pm ;) Persistance is the key. And keep us in the loop, I have seen only 4 doctors about this head pain, and still am seeking new information and treatments. I am hoping you find pain relief and that you can get your life back. Any pain is a bad sign, and nothing to ignore. Any doc that says, "You just have to deal with it" isn't worth employing.... I have a friend diagnosed with migraines, and when she had her MRI done, the doctor called her in for a consult. he said, "It's not a tumor, and you aren't dying. Thank goodness it is just migraines." Then he looked at her as if waiting for her to shake his hand and get excited. I mean the poor lady is having 4 migraines in 5 days, everyday of her life since she turned 20..and now she's 40...and she is supposed to be greatful she isn't going to die? He did hand her plenty of Zomig and Verapamil.... but of course the insurance company seems to think 6 pills should last the entire month.... same story told around her many times, I am sure. Knowing the cause, doesn't make the suffering any easier. But knowing that someone is going through the same trouble and surviving is worth it's weight in gold... |

Title: Re: My new neuro Post by Tiannia on Sep 20th, 2005, 3:44pm Thanks everyone. I am really happy with it. I was totally shocked that he did not just diagnose me like all the others have done from what little they heard when I talked to them. I'll let you know how things go. After my tests on the 3rd (they are all in his office) - Then I make a follow up appointment and we go from there. I hope you appointment does go well, Barry. Hell maybe there are a few docs out there that might know what they are doing. |
