Title: Flying high
Post by unsolved1 on Sep 18th, 2005, 10:58pm
No, I'm NOT talking about drugs! I'm going to be flying from Louisville to Chicago (and back) on Wednesday and I'm kinda nervous about it. Got any advice on beating the flying jitters ??  :-/

PS. If a plane goes down on Wednesday, it's probably the one i'm on  :-/  :(

UNsolved just think about it like this:

Less people die in plane accidents than in road accidents.  So the odds are in your favour. ;)

See it as an adventure and let take-off be like taking off in a fast car with no obsticles in the road.

When you're in the sky just think this must be what a bird feels like, I wanna be a bird.  Put your earphones on and listen to "Fly like an Eagle" or is it "The wind beneath my Wings"?  Well whatever.

When landing comes up pretend you're in an elevator going down.

That should do it!

If it doesn't drink alot of alcohol until you pass out! ;;D

Good luck and Happy hunting or whatever the well wishes are for people using air transport.

That's the best advice I've heard. It's what I would do.

Unsolved,

don't they say that the only way to get over one's fears us to face them?

Personally I'm not afraid of flying, but still I think the night before the flight that planes do crash... But on the day in question I'm peaceful and relaxed and so far i haven't had ch during the flight (touch wood).

I suggest that you imagine yourself on the flight and think about how hell it all goes... Check-in goes smoothly, the stewartess is nice, the passangers near you are polite...etc. Positive attitude, that's my advice! :)

Good luck & tell us how it went!

Sanna :)

Planes are ridiculously safe. One thing, especially on long flights, it's always easier to have an aisle seat. Lots easier to get to the terlet, those wonderful pretzels and the beverages that you put in the itty bitty plastic glass that comes with drinks and slides around on your tray. http://www.subscribe.smileygenerator.us/all/albums/0riginals/beer.gif?SSImageQuality=Full

Also remember that the morons at airport security are the same Homeland Security idiots that were in charge of the hurricane. Makes me tingle. http://www.smileygenerator.us/forum/Smileys/default/cry.gif?SSImageQuality=Full

I love flying but then I don't drive so I'm used to it. Of course, because I don't drive, certainly the other drivers on the road have a better chance since they don't have to dodge me.

Read the Sharper Image type catalog too. You'll die laughing. http://smaylik.by.ru/i/328.gif?SSImageQuality=Full

Don't want to hijack this airplane but,
We were wondering around a shopping mall just yesterday and went into the Sharper Image store. I gotta tell ya, the stuff they sell are for the laziest people in the world.
They have a thingy to wind your self-winding watch. It takes more work to put the watch in the winder than it does to just wear the damn thing.
They also have battery powered nail clippers! Dumb, dumb, dumb.
OK, back to the flight to Chicago.
Chicago?

I always take along a book-something that totally absorbs my interest like Dean Koontz. I agree with the aisle seats being best if you need to use the lavoratory often-not best when those sitting next to you need to use the lavoratory often.
I also pray fervently during take-off and landing and during any turbulence.
It helps if you are not sitting next to a 2 year old named mikey whose mother encourages him to make friends with you.
I've flown at least 400 times (no kidding) and the O2 bags only dropped down once.  I did kiss the ground when we deplaned that time-but have flown many times since.
You'll be fine.

Aww... I can't just drop in?  [smiley=laugh.gif] I could even show up in four or five pieces and take the whole tour of your place, all at once! (Sorry.. Morbid sense of humor, today....) LOL
