Scandanavian meaning Honorable ruler

However my parents couldn't agree on a name.....

My father wanted Ariel (Ah-ree-el) and my mother thought that was weak though in Hebrew it means Lion of God.

So my father suggested a derivitive of that which is Arik (Ah-reek)

Then my mother came up with Eric and they agreed.
Eric is my English name and Arik is my Hebrew name.

I always liked the meaning of my name yet never was into my given name until I heard my wife say it ;)

Usage: This is a laugher! My mother must have had a difficult or labor intensive childbirth with me to name me Bob. Reckon she did it out of spite knowing thousands and thousands of other boys were named Bob.
Additional Usage Info: To drive you nuts. Try this: Walk into the back of a room with 30 plus males and say: "Hey Bob". Count how many wrench their necks turning back to see if you're talking to them individually.
Other Useless Additional Info: So many Bobs, most have resorted to adding additional letters to their Bob name, i.e., Bobw, BobG, Bob P, and so on. I've had to add numbers to the back of my name just for individuality purposes. Note - This is a little plagarism (sp) from SteCo....sorry Steve, couldn't resist.
Fortunate Aspects Of The Bob Name: Mom could have added a second "O" between the Bs. Thank goodness she didn't think of that. Also, the name sounds the same spelled backwards or forwards.
