Title: Drowned (photo/subject matter warning) Post by Frank_W on Sep 15th, 2005, 12:45pm http://www.imagecrown.com/images/Jeepgun/drowned2.jpg Drowned Dreaming into a shadowed snowbound forest Immersed up to my neck in a glacial river coursing pearl-black against its stark banks. My sister behind me in the current Turning to greet her but without a word she shoves me under I scream a torrent of bubbles fight for the surface to break through and hear the tilting trees and bleached sky screaming too before gaining no more than a gasp as water floods into my mouth and nose Pushed under again Chest burning Struggling weaker darker surrendering to black ice filling my lungs and collapsing into the silent bottomless void that opens beneath me. -Frank H. Title: Re: Drowned (photo/subject matter warning) Post by Frank_W on Sep 15th, 2005, 1:57pm Thanks... I like what Richard Bach wrote in his book, "Illusions." "Rarely do members of the same family grow up under the same roof." I can vouch for the truth of that. :) |

Title: Re: Drowned (photo/subject matter warning) Post by Frank_W on Sep 15th, 2005, 3:04pm Thanks, Pam. I had the dream several years ago, and it ended up, sadly, being premonitory. The drowning was a metaphor for the treachery and malice of my sister. (Without families, phsychiatrists would go out of business!) LOL It was good to finally get this nightmare to a place where I could actually write about it, and the images and photo work well to convey the horror that I felt, upon awakening from that dream. |

Title: Re: Drowned (photo/subject matter warning) Post by Frank_W on Sep 19th, 2005, 7:29am Thanks... I've been revisiting a lot of stuff from the past lately, processing it, coming to resolution on some of it, and other pieces of it, it's more akin to peeling an onion. Life is messy business... (Still, it far outweighs the alternative) ;;D |
