Why do songs like that play in short SPURTS for me.......pissin me off !! I have everything updated and yeah I do have slow dialup. But it jus plays in short spurts the entire song and doesn't play thru as if every other second was deleted ? Jus wonderin cuz this is a fairly new computer and a decent one (not cheap)....can't get DSL......already tried that. Sporatic songs Pam

PS: I got Pat's cool blues tune just fine and saved....did that LATE last nite. Could that have sumthin to do with it ? Jus curious.

Pam, don't put microsoft on or your problems will just be beginning.  They still have lots of security issues.  If you use microsoft make sure you have a reliable fireware and virus scanner protector.

I'll stay with Opera.....I think IE messed up alot of previous computers. I keep gettin messages now microsoft expirienced problems and has to shut down crap now. It always says send or don't send error report.....lately I jus click NO the the program shuts down and I jus go back to what I was doing. Always sumpthin Pam

Thanks guys.....not much I can do with slow dialup. Direct TV offers cable for 69 bucks a month added onto my already to high bill. And my satillite goes out everytime it rains or snows real heavy or storms are near with alot of lightening. Sometimes it is out for days. So don't think usein them would be a good idea for faster service.

I have always had problems with running streaming links like that with FireFox on Linux. Mozplugger and the Mplayer plugin were always giving me problems. I would sometimes end up grabbing the link from the web page source just to see it.

I solved all that with the MediaPlayerConnectivity - Firefox Extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=446) Now a link like on this thread that would have caused problems was brought up in Xine and ran perfectly. I can bring up webcams now too. I have no experience on using it with windows but it might be worth a try if you need it.

Will that work with Opera.....not to knowledgeable (obviously) with all this. I did use windows media player then ended up with real player. Seems alot of stuff was sent thru real player or sumthin and I ended up updateing it cuz it worked nice for stuff people sent. But the music stuff is terrible. Sounds like it has an on and off switch effect dureing the entire song and really irritateing. Slow dialup is probly alot of it no doubt too......booney ways Pam

Nope,

A far as I know the extensions will only work with Firefox , Mozilla, or Netscape. I believe quicktime has a setting to download the whole streamed file before playing it. That would make the song/video continuous. RealPlayer always seems to be buffering, even on broadband.

Also you can try the Real Alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm) and the QuickTime Alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm) to see how well they work in Opera.
