Title: Happy to have CH Post by scrapinby on Sep 6th, 2005, 10:37am I was diagnosed about a month ago with CH. I was sent in to have an MRI done to make sure there isn't something more serious going on in my head, and low and behold they find a tumor. The Doc said it doesn't look like cancer, and doesn't have anything to do with the headaches. I'm going to see a neurosurgeon tomorrow to find out what needs to be done. At the moment I'm looking at the CH like a blessing. Without CH I wouldn't know about the tumor. |

Title: Re: Happy to have CH Post by Melissa on Sep 6th, 2005, 11:04am Wow. First off, I am so sorry about the tumor. My aunt had one removed from her head about 6 years ago and she is doing just great! It is refreshing to see such a positive attitude toward the curveballs life is throwing your way. Thank you for the post and lots of luck and prayers as you get the tumor taken care of. hugs, :)mel |

Title: Re: Happy to have CH Post by scrapinby on Sep 6th, 2005, 1:00pm Thanks for all of the support. Funny thing is that I am generally a pessimistic person, but with everything going on I can't help but think of how bad it really could be, which in turn makes me think of how lucky I really am. |

Title: Re: Happy to have CH Post by scrapinby on Sep 7th, 2005, 9:45pm Good news- The doc isn't sure if it is a tumor or just some abnormality in my brain. He said it is so small, and because it hasn't affected anything yet, at this point the best course of action would be to sit back and monitor it. He wants me to go in and have another MRI done in 3 months and see if it has grown. He said in three months it can't grow large enough that they will not be able to take care of it. He told me that I should give his office a call if I have any weakness in my right side, or if I have a seizure (damn right I'm calling someone if I have a seizure). Although I am happy to hear what this doc has to say, I think getting a second opinion is a good idea. |

Title: Re: Happy to have CH Post by yikes-another-one on Sep 8th, 2005, 2:07pm My neice was just 8 years old, and had a benign tumor removed. they shave only a u-shaped patch of hair, and scrapped out allthe roots without any nerve damage. She recovered great, got A's and B's in school and now keeps her hair long, it covers any remaining scar... It's a wonder what medicine/doctors really can do these days. thank goodness for MRI and all the tecnology.... better than a labotomy.... ;) best wishes. |

Title: Re: Happy to have CH Post by Charlie on Sep 8th, 2005, 3:42pm Good news. Glad to hear it. I've had a tumor/growth on my cerebellum for 59 years. The docs say it's from birth and not at all a problem. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer is all. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/crazyeyes.gif Keep us informed and good luck.
