Title: At last! A cure from the Guest Book! Post by pubgirl on Sep 4th, 2005, 9:04pm Ladeees and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please. At last we have a cure from a visitor to the Guest Book (oh well, maybe not the first cure suggested ;;D) We have had: Cat litter and wee wee on the back of the neck Foil hats Drinking your own piss etc, etc etc but now an easy and cheap one: and I quote: "Its been about a year since i've posted anything. My husband sufferes from cluster headaches and a remedy we have found that helps us is apple cider vinegar. They sell it in pill form now which is much better then having to drink it. I can say he still gets touches of the beast but thats usually cause hes slowed down on the pills. Also, he'll fix a warm drink with water, apple cider vinegar, and some honey to drink. The whole reason i got the idea about the pills was something i had read on this sight about a man who peeled an apple every night before bed and ate it the next morning. That same man also took brisk walks and drank alot of water but had been free from the beast for some time. So hey maybe its true an apple a day keeps the beast away???? tina fankhauser <slkygreen@aol.com> sebring, oh USA Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at 20:10:34 (EST) Oh give me f*ing strength" W |

Title: Re: At last! A cure from the Guest Book! Post by Barry_T_Coles on Sep 4th, 2005, 10:44pm You never know, apple cider vineger, wine. I know I can drink white wine and not get hit, actually it appears to reduce the effects of the shadows, yet I have one beer and I go A over T. Every one to thier own I suppose, think I might have another glass of the great grape. Cheers without the beers. Barry |

Title: Re: At last! A cure from the Guest Book! Post by Ueli on Sep 4th, 2005, 11:12pm Helen, may I correct you? It was Walther, William's son who was in danger of a headache. ;;D One thing I've always been curious about this apple cider vinegar cure (for CH and a lot more diseases): Vinegar is a simple chemical compound, acetic acid. It is produced out of alcohol, with the help of a microorganism. Now, if this stuff helps against any disease, it's either the vinegar, then the source of alcohol would be irrelevant, or some ingredient of the cider, then vinegar wouldn't be needed. Also, it's looks like this apple cider vinegar must be taken in much larger amounts than is needed for a salad. How can this amount be filled into a few capsules? Can somebody enlighten me in this respect, or must I continue to be amazed at the ingenuity of wellness scammers? And of course, out of brisk walks, lots of water and apple cider vinegar it was the most exotic one that helped. ::) Ueli [smiley=smokin.gif] |

Title: Re: At last! A cure from the Guest Book! Post by nani on Sep 5th, 2005, 10:11am Vinegar has been mentioned before, and it's prevelant in many home remedies for many things. It's more likely that her hubby is out of cycle and she attributes that to vinegar. My sister is episodic CH, and each time she's in cycle, she'll try giving up something. Last time, she gave up sugar, and swears it ended the CH. My response is always...Yeah...OK... ...when you're ready to talk about real treatments, I'm here. |

Keep up those strenuous walks. It's my bet as the reason it works sometimes. Charlie http://www.subscribe.smileygenerator.us/all/albums/0riginals/eyebrow.gif?SSImageQuality=Full |

Title: Re: At last! A cure from the Guest Book! Post by Georgia on Sep 6th, 2005, 11:59pm Fuckers. I just like saying fuckers before I say anything else. I think it sets the mood nicely. So...fuckers. A long time ago on a CH message board far far away, a wise man posted that rubbing apple cider vinegar on your chest, arms, back, neck while placing a plug of bleu cheese under your tongue until it dissolved would abort a cluster. At some point in the life of most clusterheads, we get to the point where we will try anything to stop the pain...be it injesting illegal hallucinogenics, breathing in oxygen (doncha think the first CH'er to be told that this may work thought, "yeah fucking right...breathing air is gonna stop this pain"), or eating weeds...some of em work and some of em don't. Tryins the only chance we got. I was at this point when I let Den rub apple cider vinegar all over me while sticking bleu cheese in my mouth - the mouth of a chronic ch'er in the throws of a full blown cluster. The pain stopped. Aborted. No meds. No O2. Just apple cider vinegar and bleu cheese. It worked several times for me. It worked sans the bleu cheese. I tried drinking the vinegar staright at the beginning of an attack...sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. And like everything else I have tried up to this point, it eventually stopped working for me. And so it goes....and so it goes. |

Title: Re: At last! A cure from the Guest Book! Post by Georgia on Sep 7th, 2005, 2:10am Fuckers. Hap - I don't need another esoteric rat bastard around. I married one. I don't get it, alright? I admit it...I don't fucking get it. Am I the cupcake and if so why am I kissing toilet bowls? Late nate? Morning sickness? Or maybe my love box is the cupcake, in which case I might add thank you for the compliment and yet wonder if perhaps Jonah is the bowling ball because he was really more like a watermelon? No no, you were saying that the bleu cheese wasn't really bleu cheese...it was Den's cupcake? It's old, but it ain't moldy. Jesus Hap. That's just perverse. Moldy and steamy. I feel ill. Do I know you? Love, G |

Title: Re: At last! A cure from the Guest Book! Post by BarbaraD on Sep 7th, 2005, 8:11am Seriously folk, Apple Cider Vinegar works on a lot of things (I've SEEN people get off insulin taking it) so why not try it. It's good for weight loss (if you can get over the smell -- I can't). The pills are the lesser of the evils, but they STILL smell like vinegar and I still gag so I just can't take them, but if you can stomach them - I'd say it was worth a try. There was a suggestion a few years back about grape juice and ginger ale - don't they make wine out of grape juice too? What the heck.....Maybe we should just all go to wine..... [smiley=huh.gif] I can handle that.... But the banana peels around the head don't work worth a darn ---- Hugs BD |

Sorry, Bob, I can't agree here. Flash didn't get much flak on his early postings, only a few who were concerned by the legal issue. Most replies were favorable, and some told of similar experiences. One guy even wrote: "I put more stock in Flash's shroom theory than anything else. I think he really may have stumbled onto the ultimate preventative." (Guess who?). If you want to refresh your memory, you'll find all the links to posts about shrooms on CH.com at http://www.clusterbusters.com/2000.html (start at the bottom of the page). on 09/07/05 at 08:11:18, BarbaraD wrote:
Mom, I can't believe that an insulin-dependent diabetic could replace the shots by a few apple cider vinegar capsules, without running into very serious, if not lethal, health risks. I would rather believe you if you said: "Last week I saw a horse barf". Insulin is a very specialized hormone needed to transport sugar in and out of cells. If something as simple as a vinegar could replace insulin, the whole world would know about it and the people squeezing the carcasses of dead pigs and sheep for a few drops of insulin would lose their jobs. The fact that Google returns about 437,000 hits for "Apple Cider Vinegar", most of them from health food and wellness sites, indicates that it is a replacement for the pharmaceutical drug "Placebo". If ACV were a true replacement for insulin at least 400,000 of these hits would boast about it. To maximize profits some of these hucksters include serious diseases like CH or diabetes in their list of indications, without concern for possible fatal outcomes if someone neglects the proven treatments over this wonder remedy. Scoundrels! >:( For weight loss there are alternatives to the foul smelling ACV, another much praised herbal product can help: http://assets.bravenet.com/common/images/cartoon/daily/247.gif PFNADs, Ueli [smiley=smokin.gif] |
