Title: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by Melissa on Sep 1st, 2005, 6:51am Each year I take a picture to hang on the wall, and post here, of Lily's first day of school. This year I won't be waving to her as she gets on the bus at the end of the driveway. :'( I figure, she's in 5th grade, she doesn't need to be embarrassed by her mom. :'( OMG, why is this so damn hard every year?? Seeing your baby grow up just SUCKS!!!! Oh well, enough about me... here's Lily! :D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/mfiltz/Lily1stDay.jpg |

Title: Re: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by nani on Sep 1st, 2005, 7:46am So cute, mel!! I love kids at this age (well, any age actually). They are entering hormonal hell, but are still little kids. They start to "get" adult humor, they are interested in the world around them, and you can actually have a mature conversation with them. The best thing is that, for the most part, they still like and respect their parents. ;) I know it's hard to watch them grow up, but with girls, the mother/daughter relationship can start to morph into more of a friendship. You begin to share interests, like cute clothes, cute shoes, cute guys, LOL Have a great day, mel, and try not to watch the clock too much. I know how long a day can drag on if you're waiting for your kid to get home. hugs, nani |

Title: Re: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by Ree on Sep 1st, 2005, 1:05pm Helen ~~I wish my daughter wore a uniform that would take away alot of the morning trials.... imagine.... 6:00 am... you tiptoe in and see the cutest little face sleeping wake her gently and within 20 minutes her head is spinning around and she is spewing green slime at me like the child in the Exorcist....next week I will wake her a half hour later....it will give her less time to torture me.... My friends say we will be great friends when she grows up... I truly don't know about that.... You know that saying that goes" If you weren't my daughter I would chose you for my friend".... well I don't feel that way.... Pray for me in the coming months.... Homework time is also a horror show. The old days when my Mom said "I don't understand this "new" math" have returned with a vengence again.... They screwed up math (just when I thought I was balancing my check book just fine). Its so hard for her that, again the head spins around as she tells me I don't know how to do it because I'm not in the 6th grade..... Most Moms dream of the first day of school... not me.... love to you Ree |

Title: Re: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by Margi on Sep 1st, 2005, 2:07pm aw, Mel - Lily is SO pretty! She is looking more like you every year!! I hope her day goes well. And, Ree - Breezy, too. She's a beautiful girl. Trust me honey, it does get better once they pass the teen years. LOL loved your head spinning around, spewing green slime description though. I INTIMATELY can relate to that one!! You WILL end up being best friends with your daughter, but you also WILL have a short stopover in Hell from about age 15 - 18. Those years are the worst. But once the daughter gets out on her own and starts her own family, you, my dear will suddenly become brilliant in her eyes. THEN she will give you another grandbaby to spoil and, you and I both know that's the icing on the cake. I prayed for a girl grandbaby (because payback is such sweet serendipity.) I'm going to have SO much fun when Savannah gets to those years. I can hardly wait!! :) |

Title: Re: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by Grandma_Sweet_Boy on Sep 1st, 2005, 5:49pm Mel and Ree - you both have such beautiful daughters. I competely agree with Margi's take on it all. Seems that one day you're the enemy and the next day you're best friends. That's the part I like best. Wouldn't want to go through the teenage years again. Good luck to both girls with their school year. Carol |

Title: Re: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by Melissa on Sep 2nd, 2005, 7:18am ;;D Lily said she had a GREAT first day and that she cannot wait to go back today! LOL! Right now she's waiting for her bus. We're not sure when this bus will come, as she was on a different one yesterday, but hopefully she gets dropped off after school a little earlier than 4:10pm like yesterday. ::) That sucked, especially when I need to get her to her 1st Karate class for 4:20pm and it takes 30min to get there. :o ANYWAY, I can work around it, we just need to cut a class here and add another there. :) Anyway, hope everyone else's kids are doing well! Thanks again for the compliments. :D |

Title: Re: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by kayarr on Sep 3rd, 2005, 5:12pm Your children are beautiful. They grow so fast. I contend that the teenage issues are God's way of helping me let them leave the nest. If I thought they were as cute as I did when they were little they would live wiht me forever...lol. That would be unnatural:) |

Title: Re: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by LadyElaine on Sep 4th, 2005, 11:26am Oh Mel I know how you feel! That little girl is beautiful. Ree yours is beautiful to. She is just at the age that gives you fits. There will come a day you would give anything to fuss with her over home work and what to wear and have her home again. My kids hated me until they had children. Now they call all the time. I still have one that hates me. Thats ok she hasn't had kids yet ;-)! |

Title: Re: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by LeLimey on Sep 6th, 2005, 12:37pm I just wanted to resurrect this to show you all my daughter on her first day of secondary school. She is eleven and started a new school today, senior school here but the lowest year :) Mummy was a raving basket case, she looked too little to be going to "big" school. Sheesh - does it never get easier? |

Title: Re: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by Melissa on Sep 6th, 2005, 12:46pm Oh Helen! She is just lovely! She is about Lily's age (Lily will be 11 on Oct. 10th), wouldn't it be cool if someday they could meet each other?? Oh, a thought! Are you coming to the con next year in Wisconsin? If so, will you be bringing the children? |

Title: Re: 1st Day of School Pic... Post by LeLimey on Sep 6th, 2005, 1:00pm No Mel, that is David and I will be coming to the convention but the kids won't! We will be taking them to Davcon though if you can make that?? |
