Title: lets zing them Post by Ree on Aug 31st, 2005, 11:01pm I got this email tonight dont know if it would work but oh well.....hahahahahahahaha IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES. THEREFORE THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 1st HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED " STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND " DAY. THE PEOPLE OF THESE TWO NATIONS, CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT. WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO? REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I F THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" |

Title: Re: lets zing them Post by Drk^Angel on Sep 1st, 2005, 2:32am Ya ever notice that every few months, there is a no gas day. And have ya ever noticed that the prices are still goin' up. In reality, one day of no petrol sales may be noticed by the stations, possibly noticed by the distribution channels, not noticed at all by the refineries, docks, rigs, barges, wells, companies, or OPEC. The increase in sales the day before and the day after will more than make up for the lost of sales for one day when the quarterly reports are processed. It'd be at most a line item on the weekly sales report for the stations. The only people who would actually be noticably affected by the loss in business that day would be the stations' employees, but then again, they prolly wouldn't care either, because it'd be less work and they could maybe go home early. Ya know what we need? A no gas month... That'll really stick it to 'em... :P Hell... After lookin' at how much I'll prolly be payin' for gas soon, I think I'll use the money instead to buy a bike to ride to werk. PFDAN...................................... Drk^Angel |

Title: Re: lets zing them Post by E-Double on Sep 1st, 2005, 7:50am You are correct. That email goes around every couple of months. It will never happen. People love their vehicles despite all of these occurances. People barely even carpool when they are given incentive to do so......This included me when I worked in a school. A no go...... unfortunatle a part of our society and we will bitch and moan and still drive our cars. Go figure! |

Title: Re: lets zing them Post by Frank_W on Sep 1st, 2005, 8:03am The only way to stick it to the oil companies is to not buy or use their product, for MORE than just one day out of the month. If, for example, the 24th is "don't buy gas day," guess what? I'm going to fill up on the 23rd, or I'm going to stretch my tank of gas until the 25th. Either way, it doesn't even create a ripple in the oil companies' bottom lines. Now if more people carpooled, rode bicycles, took the bus, or other public transit, and did it in increasing numbers, over the space of six months to a year, the oil companies MIGHT start feeling the squeeze. Until then, they don't care one bit. |
