Title: Re: My New Apartment! Post by Lizzie2 on Aug 22nd, 2005, 11:05pm LOL now I live even closer to Randy (Mr. Happy) but shhhhhhhhh don't tell him. LMAO OK we can have a party at my place but just a warning - no smoking allowed inside!!! ;) I've already got an open bottle of Arbor Mist in the fridge - that was on one of my days when I felt the need to explore what we call 'downtown' - went to the hardware store to buy a Carbon Monoxide detector - found I could buy one for far cheaper at Walmart (or rather...mom could buy it for me cheaper at Walmart - I refuse to go within 50 feet of a walmart or I will have a panic attack that will have me committed)............so instead, I ended up checking out the liquor store and buying some Arbor Mist and stopping for Chinese food on the way home. This was before I had cable... Don't I lead one hell of an exciting life? [smiley=laugh.gif] I'll have to post pics of the town - my mom took a few the weekend I signed the application but she doesn't know how to upload them from her camera - so I can go walking on some random day off and take some more! So yeah - about that cooking thing....... I'm gonna need some recipes for one - I'll have to start a thread about it sometime when I'm feeling domestically motivated. (Sure...that'll happen in this lifetime...) I told my mom I would start off by actually cooking 1 meal a week for now. I know I'll never cook on the days I work 12 hour shifts, but so far it's been confirmed that the majority of nurses working 12 hour shifts don't cook those nights either. The important foci of the kitchen are the fridge and the microwave. ;) Now back to unpacking the stuff I brought back from home. :) |

Ok, I'll stay away from the oven, I once tried to bake a steak, learned that cooking methods and foods that rhyme aren't a good combination Quote:
You wouldn't want to go to Wally-World with me and see some of the fits I throw when I have to stand in line waiting to checkout for 45 minutes ;) |
||||
Title: Re: My New Apartment! Post by Lizzie2 on Aug 22nd, 2005, 11:28pm LMAO about the steak and oven!! That's hilarious.....sounds like something I would try. As far as Wally-World. No, I couldn't go there. We went to Acme 2 Sundays ago for the first shopping trip for this place. Um.....it really was a nice Acme - the aisles felt a little narrow for my tastes - and I'm pretty sure that the longer I was in the store, the narrower those aisles got. Mind you - I'm not claustrophobic - but I'm pretty sure that I'm afraid of crowds of people in public places like that - I hate it!!! (This is why I work in the very center of Philadelphia -- doesn't that make sense? LOL) Fortunately, the food shopping trips will be much shorter in the future! ;) |

Title: Re: My New Apartment! Post by mcf69 on Aug 22nd, 2005, 11:45pm ACME? Isn't that the stuff that Willy E Coyote used to try to use on the roadrunner? Did you pick up any big crates or rockets? Quote:
That's why I like trees, they don't tend to crowd you, and when they do, you can cut them down ;) |
||||
Title: Re: My New Apartment! Post by Lizzie2 on Aug 22nd, 2005, 11:56pm LOL That's my take on it - I feel like the coyote getting blown up by an ACME rocket when in that store....although it's pretty nice, as grocery stores go at least! Here ya go: www.acmemarkets.com What food shopping places do you have? Wegmans? Where in NY are you located? (Why am I asking about grocery stores? Damn it's late and I should try to sleep..... LOL) |
||||
Title: Re: My New Apartment! Post by mcf69 on Aug 23rd, 2005, 12:02am LOL, I know what ACME is, we used to have quite a few around here until they all closed up. The big grocery place here is Price Chopper and the independent IGA's, and we have ALDI too, awesome store, wicked cheap. Wegman's is mostly down south, I'm way up near the Canadian border and everything is few and far between, including grocery stores. That reminds me, why I am I talking about grocery stores too when I could be sleeping, dreaming of the food in them lol |

Title: Re: My New Apartment! Post by Lizzie2 on Aug 23rd, 2005, 12:08am ROFL.... It's that random, tired, strung out with no O2 brain trying to chatter its way back to sanity....at least in my case. ;) My dad grew up in Syracuse -actually my grandma, aunt, and uncle still live there. That's where I first ran into a Wegmans - actually it's been around as long as I can remember up there! They put one in State College just before my last year there, but I only ever went once - it was expensive, and I lived in an apartment complex right behind Giant - I could walk if I just needed one or two things. When I lived in center city, there were two food stores down on 10th and South streets (south street - think Rocky - sort of) - we had Whole Foods and Superfresh. I had to buy one of those carts just so I could drag my groceries about 10 blocks back up to Walnut street. Then a Jefferson med student was murdered by some crazed ex-med student right outside the superfresh - so I didn't go back there much after that! I either shopped out of the Wawa (don't ask...it's some Indian word that means 'duck' or some such thing, but it's the best thing since sliced bread) - or else I got my groceries at home and brought them down whenever I went back and forth between home and the apartment! OK yeah - now I want a water ice - kind of like an ice pack from the inside out - I'm probably the only person who does that. LOL |

Title: Re: My New Apartment! Post by Charlie on Aug 23rd, 2005, 1:51am Looks to me like you're having a shitload of fun....no one should look so happy...... take a nap. http://www.my-smileys.de/smileys2/flatto-couch-ani.gif I shop at Wegams almost every week. It's a good place for a bachelor to hang around, drink designer coffee, eat a three dollar slice of pizza and homemade cookie that one can afford only with a credit card. http://smiles.ru/coll/jorry/sad.gif?SSImageQuality=Full Seriously, it's the nicest store that I've ever seen and a damn good place for yuppies to hang around waiting for other yuppies. Nice Pad kids. http://www.subscribe.smileygenerator.us/all/albums/0riginals/clap.gif?SSImageQuality=Full Charlie |

Title: Re: My New Apartment! Post by BobG on Aug 23rd, 2005, 3:04am Congrats on the new place. In the photos.......is that your mom? What'd she do, give birth at age 12? Ya'll have stores that sell food? You mean food you can take home? Food you can fix yourself? Wow, great concept. I'll have be be on the lookout for one of them places. All our food comes prepared..........at Outback, Cheesecake Factory, Applebee's, Black Angus, you know the usual places. Oh yeah, 7-11 hot dogs. Good wieners. We have one of those cigarette lighters that don mentioned. Don't know if it works. Never tried it. Does Hallmark really have a card that says STFU? I'd like some of those. ::) |

Title: Re: My New Apartment! Post by Lizzie2 on Aug 23rd, 2005, 4:27am LOL yup my mom is on the left in the photo. I was born when she was 26....she turns 51 this year. Doesn't look it does she? Hopefully I got the same genes. :) OK....I swear - sleep better come this time....not a freaking unwanted headbashing. Enough is enough for one night! :-/ The apartment is fun..........just lots of work to do, but it's fun work. hopefully I will sleep until noon now.......... |
