Title: Our friend Kirk: Update Sept 11 Post by purpleydog on Aug 22nd, 2005, 11:22am Is in the hospital, he went in last Thursday for a hip replacement. That went real well, and he was expecting to get out tomorrow. Last night, he had a massive heart attack. He is in the Cardiac intensive care unit. They are taking good care of him, but he's still having some pain and shortness of breath. I talked to him this morning, and he's in fairly good shape, considering. I know it's driving him crazy being in the hospital, so would you all please send your thoughts to him. I know he'd appreciate it. He doesn't have his laptop, so he can't get online, but he will have one real soon. ;) I know he misses the board here. He'll be back on as soon as he can. Thanks so much. Ok, so here's the real lowdown. Finally got a chance to head up "Pill Hill" this afternoon, saw Mr Intrepid(my name for him.aww, that's another story).....someone tell me how he rates BRIGHT RED JAMMIES?????????? LOL, he's clean shaven, looks like he's gonna live, and we talked about each and everyone of you...so there! :P Fact is, he is tired, and in pain, but ambulating on his own a bit, getting impatient, and, if he gets his way, he will be going home tomorrow. Chris has been a Godsend for him. Kirk believes he will be returning to a totally organized home thanks to Chris's visit. All I know is, I love how Clusterheads 'step up" for each other. Chris, it was great meeting you....ohh, and dont say a word to Kirk about the awesome crab dinner we enjoyed!!!!!!!!!!! Our secret, k? We cleaned up most of it. Ignore those suspicious stains on your bed and the way the sofa is now sitting on the front lawn. We took up a collection to repair the front window that it was thrown through, but then we ran out of beer money, so.... Also, the local constibulary may want to have a word with you, since we told them that you were the one throwing the party, and since you were the soberest one, we sent you to pick up more booze. Oh, and don't worry about the big scorched spot in the middle of the living room: It got a little chilly, so we had a campfire and toasted marshmallows, and Don brough his guitar and we had a rousing chorus of Kumbaya. It was great... Sorry about the "Unfortunate TV Dinner Incident." I think the mashed potatoes on the ceiling can be sanded down and painted over, now that they have fully coagulated. Anyway, glad to hear that you're feeling better. ;;D 8) |

Another major problem has been taken care of at the same time. He was in the Cardiac Rehab Unit, a separate place. All I can say is thank goodness he has been right there with medical care available when this happened, just as he was when he had the heart attack. He has a guardian angel looking out for him, that's for damn sure. Thank you all for your prayers and vibes. You may not know it, but they go a loooong way towards making someone feel better. :) Chris |

Kirk's still in ICU for the moment, but is looking to be transferred from there to a room with a view real soon. He's been improving steadily, and surprising the docs with how fast he's recovering, and how hard he's working to get there. :) When I told him how many replies there were to this thread, he was speechless. [smiley=wow.gif] You guys and gals are amazing!! I printed it off and mailed it to him, it came to 50 pages. He'll get a workout just picking it up and taking it out of the envelope. Ruth posted the number to the VA hospital where Kirk is, however, he is still in ICU, and the ICU will only allow certain people to get through to him. He appreciates the thoughts, but wanted me to ask you not to call the ICU. He is still trying to rest, and the ICU people are really very busy He will be in a regular room in a day or two, more than likely, and will be able to accept phone calls then. I will post the number at that point. Thanks!! :) On another note :( Kirk got hit this morning, about a K-8 and besides the hit he had after they gave him the nitro about 3 weeks ago or so, this is the first hit he's had since he's been in the hospital. Fucking beast. I'm glad he went so long without getting hit, but it'd be nice if that fucker would leave him alone. [smiley=smokin.gif] Chris |
