Title: Balloons (updated)
Post by Ueli on Aug 20th, 2005, 11:03pm
Poor me has to go to the hospital on Monday where they want to insert some balloons in my leg arteries and blow them up, in the hope that blood circulation will improve. :-/

If you don't hear from me within a few days, they'll have botched up something.

Be sure they DEflate them before they take them out.  ;;D

Sounds better than the guy in Seattle that wanted to insert balloons into my sinus cavity and inflate them to cure me of my clusters. I hope its not the same guy  :o

Good luck Ueli

All the best Ueli and I hope you stay frisky. http://subscribe.smileygenerator.us/new/albums//envy.gif

Bob: Don't let doctors play around with your sinus cavities without half a dozen consultings. They said that I had a deviated septum too with 25% capacity in one nostril. Really? I'm been blowing snot through it for nearly 59 years and doing just fine.

I have some good information that way way too much surgery like this is done. It's costly, and they get away with it because no one can prove that it didn't need to be done after the fact.

It's a nasty liitle game that they like to play on us. There oughta be a law. http://www.emotipad.com/artists/phaethorn/emoticons/slapemoticon2.gif?SSImageQuality=Full

Hope the little weather balloons come back with an "all clear" report.

1783, Ballooning was a new fascination in Paris.  August 27th, a 12 foot in diameter hydrogen-filled balloon of Jacques-Alexandre Charles rose from the Champ de Mars to a height of 3000 feet and traveled for 12 miles, falling in a village northeast of Paris.  Cart drivers who witnessed the descent were petrified as it fell toward them.  They went at the giant with rocks and knives, until it emitted "a death rattle."       ;)

Don't be upset if they insert a stent or two, Ueli.  My brother-in-law had this done recently because he has Buerger's disease, and it turned out fine.

I'm going to say a few prayers too just to get your circulation raging thru those veins and arteries.

We love you (as you can tell).

First, many thanks to all for the good wishes.

I've survived the whole procedure, LOL. The operation itself was nothing much. I felt a slight prick in the groin when the hardware was inserted, to reach the forking artery just behind the navel. I didn't feel anything from the manipulations, only a slight heat when the contrasting agent was injected. Although I haven't tested the result yet with long walks, the following morning they measured an improvement in pulse amplitude in the feet.

The worst part of all was laying on the back for hours, on a plank with about 1/16 inch of upholstery. That really went to the small of my back, I'm still recovering from it.

Of course nobody had a clue of CH, and what for oxygen is used. I managed to explain to a nurse what a non-rebreather mask is, and she got one for me. But the assistant in the operating room didn't get it, that I need oxygen just in case, but then he should open the valve fully. He insisted to monitor blood oxygen level, with some sort of clamp on a finger. On the slightest movement this clamp slipped and the reading dropped. Then he wanted me to put on the mask and he cranked up the flow to a full 2 liters/minute; a good way to suffocate somebody if the mask is close fitting! This guy obviously only knows of asthmatics who need a small supplement of oxygen, duh.

Excellent news...great to see you made it our, none the worse for wear.

I know what you mean about lying still though the operation. I had a Catherization done once & it was the longest 2 hours of my life. Then after they're done they put this freakin 50 lb. (probably more like 15 lbs., but it felt like 50) sandbag on my groin & told me not to move for 12 hours. >:( arghhhhhhhh

Glad the plumbing is back to normal.

Jimmy
