Title: Little black pain cloud Post by burnt-toast on Aug 9th, 2005, 9:03am Ok, who did piss off in a former life and what connctions does he/she have? Just as this nightmare is loosening its grip a little I get smacked with the worst tooth/gum infection I've ever experienced. No dentist is able to see me until Friday and none would prescribe an antibiotic without a visit. The infection started in a front tooth and was spreading rapidly but several dentists would not even see me for 2 minutes to confirm that I had a tooth/gum infection. This all starded Sunday afternoon so by yesterday morning my upper front jaw was swollen to the point where I look like a monkey with a bad attitude. So I managed an appointment with a doctor yesterday afternoon (that I had never seen before), she doubts that I would have made it to Friday and prescribes a strong antibiotic. Now this ain't CH pain but it is a constant pain so I inform her that I am unable to sleep or take Advil or Excederin because of my meds and that Tylenol has the pain stopping power of a Tic-Tac. She laughs and says that she will not prescirbe anything for pain because I'm not a regular patient and she doesn't know me????? I guess she thought I could have jammed something into my gums and caused a major infection just to get some sucker doctor to dispense a script for a day or two of pain meds????? In any case I didn't argue, at least I have something for the infection. Now I haven't slept for two nights but the antibiotic is working already and tonight should be better. Watch, my Nightmare will choose tonight to rear its ugly head - why am I so sure that's what is next. I want off this freakin Pain-Train by my ticket was obviously purchased for the end of the line. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Tom |

Title: Re: Little black pain cloud Post by Frank_W on Aug 9th, 2005, 9:18am Oh man... I'm sorry... Dental stuff is quite a trigger, too. Last February, I was wavering between, "Am I in cycle or not?" Then I went in and had a cavity drilled and filled, and on the heels of that, I got slammed, thus ending any debate as to whether I was in cycle or not. Hang in there... :-/ |

Title: Re: Little black pain cloud Post by cootie on Aug 9th, 2005, 11:05pm Did she say what it was called ? Yeah docs have pretty strict guide lines to follow with scripting pain meds cuz now they have to keep records to keep the DEA off there backs so they will NOT jus script stuff to patients they don't know. My doc told me last month he has to have pateints in every 3 months that he does script any to so he doesn't get into trouble. He's a good doc too. Too many people abusein stuff or sellin it and has ruin'd it for legit folks. Hope yer feelin better.......antibiotics usually work pretty fast for that. Bummer gummies Pam |

Title: Re: Little black pain cloud Post by burnt-toast on Aug 10th, 2005, 7:07am THANKS ALL, I'm much better now. The antibiotic started working fast but I couldn't close or open my mouth and the swellng was causing tremendous pain. So I packed my mouth with paper towels and cut my own gums. They were so swollen I didn't feel a thing. Quite a bloody/icky mess but instant relief. Slept without any pain last night and the swelling is virtually gone this morning. Modern health care - ain't it grand. Minor surgery anyone? P.S. My nightmare also decided to take the night off - Go Figure. Tom |

Title: Re: Little black pain cloud Post by cootie on Aug 10th, 2005, 10:37am OH YUK DUDE......home surgery.......it works but YES more infection is very possible......it is on everything and so easy to get and doubt you used sterile equiptment. Alot of people get infections in a hospital so what's that tell ya. Keep takein the anitibiotics so it will fight any new infections yo may of contacted. But....sigh.....I should talk cuz I have done lots of home surgery on myself and my animals when I had to. I had severe pressure and bruiseing after getting sum teeth pulled many years ago. It was pushin on neves along the bottom teeth and my chin even swelled and turned bright red....swell. I had a pressure point comeing thru the bone I POKED and drained and OHHHHHH did that ever work !!!!!! But the infection ate thru the bone cuz it kept reoccureing......so I kept a pin handy. The dentist drilled in it thru the tooth (blech) and drained it and refilled it but it kept reinfecting with pressure cuz it had no where to go. Exrays show a hole there. My pin theropy was alot cheaper then his drill and faster. Fineally cleared up and my chin stopped looking like a clown nose. I just carved off my big toe nail yesturday.....quite a process. It exploded and split from when I broke my foot last winter....and all the swelling and pressure and bruiseing. Retarded nail that was like broken plexi glass. So I OPERATED.........success reported.......hopein it will grow back smooth now and not keep ripping open. OWE !!!!I should be on the jack ass show Pam ;;D |
