Title: My best friend Post by blossom on Aug 8th, 2005, 8:33pm I realized how important it is to keep on top of your health today. My best friend, Chasity, has been feeling worn down and just very tired for a few months. Well, she FINALLY went in for blood work and got a call from the dr's nurse today telling her she needed to call the dr immediately on his cell phone. :o She calls him and he tells her that he needs her to fast and come back in in the morning for additional blood work because her blood sugar was 190. She is a single mom with 3 kids (ages 14, 8 and 2) and she is 31. She is not overweight in the slightest and has no diabetics in her family so the thought of her having diabetes never entered her mind. I am very concerned for her because I have seen her go from very energetic to very worn down over the last few months. I feel horrible that I never put 2 and 2 together because I have rampant diabetes in my family and for some reason didn't see the signs. She drinks constantly and is always going to the bathroom. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks guys! Karen |

Title: Re: My best friend Post by alienspacebabe on Aug 8th, 2005, 8:50pm Glad she's taking care of it so quickly. Diabetes is very treatable and often doesn't cause too many changes in the way you live your life. Type II diabetics often need oral medication, a slight diet change, and a bit more exercise - that's it. Don't worry too much until you hear what the doctor has to say. And don't beat yourself up for not seeing the signs... it feels like the flu when you're run down like that, so drinking lots of water feels normal. [smiley=hug.gif] |

But recently had bloodwork done and they said it was fine. Good thing to get checked out regularly tho like my doc requires. Safer then sorrier Pam |
