Title: Thought I was over theses things!! Post by JaseOH on Aug 7th, 2005, 3:57pm Hi all. I have been suffering from these things for over nine years. I actually did not have a significant "cluster" for almost two years. I mena I had an occasional Day or two with the headaches, but nothing longer than that. I just let my guard down, and Here I am day five into the wrost I think I have ever had. So I am here and its nice to see a support group for these things. Nine years ago I couldnt find squat on the internet regarding Clusters. Well I am going to go read this site alittle. But Imitrex doesnt seem to be working anymore, and I have heard of new medicines out there any recemondations? Jason in Ohio |

Title: Re: Thought I was over theses things!! Post by floridian on Aug 7th, 2005, 4:55pm What did you do to let your guard down?? ;) The beast comes and goes on his own schedule. Two years pain free is better than a sharp stick in the eye. Melatonin and magnesium help me - I am episodic and my cycles are always in the summer, my sleep always gets messed up before I get hit, and melatonin helps me get back into a normal sleep cycle, chasing the beast away. I add B-vitamins and some other supplements - I think they help, the melatonin and magnesium have been proven to help in controlled trials. Oxygen is a good abortive - it has to be high flow rate in a non rebreather mask. Check the 'oxygen info' on the left menu bar. Lots of other meds being used to various effects - prednisone, verapamil, kudzu, olanzapine, clusterbusters, lithium (mostly for chronics), topomax (messes with memory, not a favorite) Read, read, read, lots of good info here. |

Title: Re: Thought I was over theses things!! Post by Topical on Aug 7th, 2005, 5:39pm Sorry you are in such a bad way. There are quite a few things to try. I hope you get a handle on them very soon. I take verapamil(preventative) and oxygen(abort). Your doctor can try a number of different things. I hope you don't have to 'monkey around' finding the right treatment. One thought, check the expiration date on the Imitrex. Are those left overs from the last time? Take care. |

Title: Re: Thought I was over theses things!! Post by jcmquix on Aug 7th, 2005, 6:42pm I know the Feeling, mine came back after 3yrs of being PF. For no reason at all. I would get back to see a Dr, get some meds (Preventive & Abortives), and read all the information on this site & the tips on the left (Check the O2 info). I am currently using TREX & O2 as abortives, more O2 these days, stuff works GREAT. Ask questions .... PF days to YOU !!! Charlie |

Many folks here can lead you on the right path, but we need to know where you been. Damn sorry you had to show up at all, nobody wants these things. Look to the left of the screen, lots of info. Let us know. Jim |

Title: Re: Thought I was over theses things!! Post by JaseOH on Aug 7th, 2005, 10:14pm This is an amazing site! Thanks for all the ideas. When I originally started withthese things I went to every "EXPERT" I could find in Boca Raton Florida, Conneticut and in New York. I dont think there is a medicine I havent tried, but it seems that you all are still takingt the smae things that were perscribed to me nine years ago. Sad not much movement foreward. Someone asked what I have taken as far as I can remeber I have taken; Verapamil Sansert Wygrain Predizone depakote Lithium Imetrey (NASAL,Pill,INjection) O2 Singular a host of other allergy medicines Stadol Darvecet and I am sure there are a few more I get very light headed on Verapamil, and I react in a bad way to predisone, eventhouh that seems to break the cycle. I guess being so close to the cleveland Clinic I should go seek help again, it just sucks because it has been so long without. Thanks for the ideas. I used to have a huge o2 tank at home but it never really got rid of them for me. maybe ill try again The worst thing is that I work shift work, and we just shifted to night shift, I am sure that hasnt helped the situation at all. |

Title: Re: Thought I was over theses things!! Post by Charlie on Aug 7th, 2005, 10:16pm Rats. Sorry this horror has decided to revisit. Two years is significant though. One has to wonder WTF we do to deserve a rematch. >:( Mine have been gone 13 years and I still can't believe how lucky I've been. I'm almost beginning to feel that I'll never hear from him again. They have been know to show up after longer periods but it's looking good here. http://www.my-smileys.de/smileys2/shhh.gif?SSImageQuality=Full Keep plugging away and feel free to rant away. Charlie |

Title: Re: Thought I was over theses things!! Post by Frank_W on Aug 8th, 2005, 7:32am One of the latest meds that's being talked about is called Atacand. It seems to have helped some people, and others, it doesn't seem to have helped as much. Sorry you're waging war with the beastie again. Hopefully, this will be nothing more than a quick "blip" on the radar. |
