Title: Good day
Post by Topical on Aug 5th, 2005, 1:36pm
I was watching MSNBC and heard the chimes going off meaning an alert of some sort.

"Bidu has just started trading"

Crap! I have been hearing about this company and it is the google of China. It went public today with it's stock. I raced over to etrade and looked in my account. Aggh, .72 cents free. Quickly I transferred over some dough from my bank as I was reading something about a 5 day holdng period. Luckily for me that applied to someone whose bank account was not linked up.

Boom! In went the money into my stock account.

Now to see what BIDU stock was selling for, I knew it was going to take off like a rocket.

I looked and couldn't believe my luck, in I went. Well, I'm up about 2500 bucks now. Not bad for about 15 minutes of work. :)

P.S. Scratch that 4100 dollars now. It went up another 2k since I started this post. People are nuts, that price has to go down but for now I have a BIG smile!  ;;D

4300 now...jeez.... *skips away*....4700....oh my!

Yup, I did.  :D

I was going to sell when it got to 100 but then I saw it going down more. I changed the 100 dollars to 97. The stock still moved down.

I tried to lower it down again. ERROR: Your previous cancellation has not been processed.  Please try again in a few minutes or call us for help."

The stock started hovering around 95 a share, 20 minutes later I still could not do anything. So I gave etrade a call, "Oh I can't see that  am going to have to transfer you to one of our brokers."

I was put on hold for about 30 minutes....

Looking at my screen I saw one of the 2 cancellations disappear. *Processed* Thank you....now for the second one. Out of frustration I hung up with etrade and decided to wait it out. Finally the second cancellation cleared.

Knowing the stock was tanking fast, I didn't set a price and let the market decide. It went for 114 dollars, I lost about 2k over the supposed price displayed of 134. That was a upsetting at first but I realized that if my previous trade at 100 dollars would have gone through I would have missed out on an extra 1400 dollars profit. Thinking about that made me laugh and realize I was lucky.

I must have an angel on my shoulder today. It was a good day, a very good day.  ;;D
