Or any other nurses?

Have packed husband off to emergency doctor, flu symptoms, purplish blotchy rash over whole body, never ill, am I right to insist this is treated seriously and go ER if they do nothing?

The rash is worrisome, and could be from an insect bite or something else causing what may be an allergic reaction, so yes, IMHO, you are correct in getting him to the ER and getting him checked out, even if it turns out to be nothing.

My two cents' worth,

Not silly at all. Any fever? Urticaria? (Itching) Hives? Arthralgia? (Joint pain), difficulty swallowing? Elevated pulse or respirations?

Low fever, aching limbs and fluey type symptoms lethargy for 5 days -refused to go to the Doctor as he said he wasn't "that bad", feels generally unwell, blotchy rash appeared this afternoon

He's probably okay.... I mean, it's probably not anything major, and the blotchy rash may simply be the result of the fever itself, but it's still a good idea to get checked out, since there are a lot of things that can first present themselves as flu-like S&S. Keep us posted, and I hope he's feeling better soon.

If y'all were from Texas I would swear he had West Nile Fever.

Symptoms sound identical.

Hope he is better soon.

W--

I'd take him to the ER/urgent care just to be on the safe side.  Maybe it is just the flu, but the rash isn't a common thing with the flu!

Sorry that I can't write more - I'm just leaving for a 1:30 appt, and I will be back in a couple of hours!

Please let us know how it turns out!

Hugz,
Carrie

HOPE he is ok.......good he is gettin checked out before something serious was to cause SERIOUS damage you could of avoided. For some odd reason our W Niles epidemic has slowed way down......was bad last couple years and several people died. They say alot of people thought they had flu or some sort of mild bug but actually were infected with W Niles and will not get it again and pass on 'sum' immunity in the future. Which is how that works.....same with the birds ect that 'did' manage to survive a positive bite. Me and Brad had selminila poisoning last winter from chicken the doc suspects. I felt HORRIBLE for days.....I even got a rash but may of been stress related...whatever.....but I didn't lay around and say I was ok. I was in SEVERE pain and will never forget it. Am still leary of resturant foods but that's not the only place you can get that stuff or food poisoning. Chicken shy Pam

GP says rash is the result of a virus but has discounted meningitis/septicaemia which were my fears. Have done the glass test and the rash goes away, so am just watching him like a hawk now

W

Sorry for panicking!

Glad to hear it, Wendy. It's good to have the peace of mind from being seen though, huh? :)
