Having a couple of really bad days, I'm losing one of my little ladys, she has diabetises, got gang green in her feet, poison in her blood, and a couple of other things going on with her, she's 85years old, & sweet as can be, been working for her for 6 years, she is deeply depressed & has just given up!! been sitting with her waiting for her family to fly in, oldest daughter just got here an hour & 1/2 ago, the family has decided not to do anything & let her go to be with god, witch I think is also, I've watched this wonderful woman suffer, since I've meet her, but these last 3 months have been so hard on her, they debreeded her foot & put her in a nursing home that doesn't have the resorces to take care of her the way she needs to be. called her daughter Jo this weekend & told her that she was bad, she called nurses station, they tell her she's ok, then Mon. comes & they call 911 to have her tooken to hospital, BUT I'M NOT A NURSE & NOT KNOW WHAT THE HELL I'M TALKING ABOUT, I DON'T HAVE TO BE A NURSE TO KNOW IF SOMEONE & TAKE CARE OF IS SICK OR NOT, MAN THEY'VE GOT ME BEYOND PISSED!!!
Sorry really needed to vent before I'd grabbed some dumb BITCH up from behind a counter!! Thanks for listens & letting me vent!!

Most difficult issue - dealing with the aging process

You want to do all things possible to preserve life but realize there is little that can be done.

In our society I like to term it "The Shuffle Off To Buffalo Approach" - and will explain.
Most Nurses & Doctors choose to take a truely clinical approach to the final treatments of senior patients. They avoid emotional association with the loss of patients. Families have become widely scattered seeking their careers and are most often scarce during critical times. In all of this the dignity of the patient is lost and there is little compassion for life that remains.

Your approach is more in line with what I believe our medical "Industry" is missing. Drugs, Docs. and Nurses can relieve a dying patients physical comfort. Family and truely special people are needed to focus on support fir a dying patients emotional needs by providing compassion and providing for their needs is such a way that it allows them to retain as much dignity as possilble.

We're becomming a society that casts it elders aside because many view them as having lost their value to our society. I could go into many details but will refrain from doing so. I love talking with my senior friends and visiting them when I can. They have taught me a great deal.

I just do not like the self serving - get out of the way or get run over society we've become. There's no future in it.

I don't regret one day with her or with what I had to do for her. I miss her so much, March was 1 year since my grandma died, she was 93 years young..
I know she died Happy & loved dearly..

To All,
Mrs. Moore is a little better since Family has come,
Still don't know what the family is going to do, Talking about taking both legs off from the knees down, found gang green in both, yet the dr. doesn't think she will last pre. opp., thinks poison got into brain. did spinel tap last night, she can't swallow anything, so she hasn't eatin in many days now. very weak. very depressed, will let you all know more when I know more..

Thanks again for the prayers & support, going back up at 4pm. so family can get a brake & get something to eat..

Jolene, just keep coming back here to vent because as long as we can give you some help to go through it we will.
I for one appreciate all you are doing for Mrs Moore, I'm sure she does too and I know her family will. Everyone wants their loved ones to be surrounded by people who really care about them if, for whatever reason, they physcially can't be there themselves.

WELL THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE A UP DATE ON MRS. MOORE,
Since her 2 daugther & son showed up, she was doing better, last night she has tooken a turn for the worst!
They think the poison in her blood has gotten to her brain, she doesn't know who her children are, she's still knows who I am, yet she is in & out, they are going to take her legs from her knees down tuesday, even though they don't think she is going to make it!! :'( :'( :'(
80% chance she won't, haven't gotten a final word from the family on what they are for sure going to do, they are waiting for her dr. to get back in town Monday, don't think she will last that long, not from what I seen of her today, :'( :'( :'( Hate seeing her suffer, went though the same thing with grandma, the last 2 month was so hard for me, & I see the same thing for Mrs. Moore. I pray that she don't go through the suffering that Grandma did, sorry can't say anything eles.

Sorry to here what Mrs.Moore ,her family and your family are going through I will pray for painfree peace for her.we're going through the same thing here.Our friend Gayle is in the final stages of cancer.just an hour ago it went from she has a few weeks tojust a matter of days to hours :'( . Gayle has been like a sarragate grandmother to the girls.she lives two houses down and was always here if we needed her or her worldly advice.She's the only one besides immediate family I trusted to watch our daughters.when I was working 12hour shifts and Billy was third shift she'd spend the night here with the girls.I can't imagine her not being here but as I tell the girls she will still be looking out for us.All these years (almost nine)she's been a guardian angel on earth soon she'll be our gaurdian angel in heaven.
May peace be with them both ,

Minnie I'm sorry to hear Gayle is going down so fast, there is never enough time with the ones we love.

Thank You all for the support,
Went to the hospital today after church,
got Mrs. Moore (Ginie) to take some of her thickit drink & some food, not much, but some, her children were there & amazed that I could get her to eat some,
asked the nurse if I could bring her a shake from her favorate place for dinner, they told me yes :),
she can't eat normal foods now, can't even drink normal drinks, has to have thickit in it,
it's hard to walk in there & smile, yet I have to & she smiles back, Well thanks again for listening.

Thickit, does make the drinks thick, thats so it doesn't run down her throut & make her choke. thickens it to a cream, which really makes it easier for her to swallow.
she ate about 15 small spoons of her shake tonite, & a couple bites of her food, :)
witch is good since she hasn't eaten in almost a week..
her dr. will be in tomorrow, to talk to the family on wheather or not the are going to take her legs from the knees down.. I kinda Pray that they don't, cause they don't think she will make it anyway.. & they need to let
her have her dignity !!

Thanks so much for the support, it's been very hard on me with everything going on, Plus little sleep..
find myself up everytime my husband moves, then I laid there & can't get back to sleep..
son starts school tomorrow.. Plus he is turning 15 on the 24 of this month, perment time!! :o :o :o

Well They had to put Mrs. Moore on a feeding tube, so they can get her back to health, are planning on doing the op. at the end of the week, if things go well with her health, still not looking good!!,

P.S. the small memorial service for my friend Gayle will be graveside Friday morning real short and sweet.I will be reading a poem....please let me get through this without breaking down.....Gayle was creamated as per her wishes and no long memoral short and sweet just like she was.less
then two weeks shy of her 56th birthday :'(

Well They op. on Mrs. Moore this Morning, took both legs from the knees down, Everything went well, now have to see how she recovers, Family is making Plans to take her home with them when she is well enough to travel, :'( :'( going to miss her, but ;;D ;;D happy they are doing the right thing, she needs to be with her children, I still have time with her, it will be awhile, she's not out of the woods yet, but is fighting since the kids came!!!

Jolene Thank you so much for letting us all know, I'm glad she is doing well and fighting!
I'm very glad she is going to be with her children too.. much as I know she loves you I think its right she is with them and I know you think that too... I know you will miss her something rotten too though!

New up date on Mrse. Moore, NO ONE GAVE HER< HER PAIN MEDS LAST NIGHT & SHE HURT SOOO BAD THAT SHE PULLED OUT HER FEEDING TUBE!!
they put it back in this after noon, she has tooken a turn for the worst, now they are going to keep her drugged so she won't pull the feeding tube out, GOD I hate seeing he suffer like this, The last child left today at 1:00pm, Her daughter Jo is coming in at 11:00pm, taking a break while she sleeps, going back up to sit with her until her daughter get here!!
