Title: Re: free time 2 Post by burnt-toast on Aug 2nd, 2005, 8:17am Ok Dyl, I don't think this one's over your head. Tom Each day of our lives we are allotted 86,400 seconds. No matter how much money we have we cannot buy a second more. If we could save seconds we still could not carry them over to another day. We cannot borrow from tomorrow for wasted time today. Like a mystic bank account every second of every day must be spent. When we spend our seconds unwisely, the loss is our own. No one is to blame for squandered seconds but ourselves. We live each day's seconds in the present, but must spend them to gain the best opportunities for health, happiness and success tomorrow. Students failing a final exam, clearly understand the value of one year Parents of children born prematurely, clearly understand the value of one month Patients awaiting results of cancer tests, clearly understand the value of one week Families awaiting reunions with loved ones, clearly understand the value of one day Laborers’ who shelter, clothe and feed families, clearly understand the value of one hour Lucky souls who just miss being involved in accidents or acts of violence, clearly understand the value of one minute But it is the people experiencing the passing of a loved one that most clearly understand the value of one second At the end of every day we must ask; “Will we be remembered fondly and keep fond memories of those we shared our seconds with today?” If our answer is yes, we have spent our time wisely. We receive no guarantee that we may spend the seconds allotted to us this day. There is no such thing as “Free Time”. |
