Title: How to Move a Piano....twice! Post by Lizzie2 on Jul 31st, 2005, 2:35pm I signed an application for a new apartment today!! I'll be moving to Narberth, PA on the 13th of August, and I can't wait!! We went apartment hunting yesterday, and I saw the place in Narberth. Odd story though - we got there late because traffic on the Schuylkill went haywire (on a Saturday, no less), and this couple was shown around the place before we got there. They signed an application for there daughter that took the place we'd come to look at! So I signed an application for a place on the 3rd floor of one of the buildings to move in on September 4th. Well... I can't exactly walk up to the 3rd floor with my knees! It is a hike! And no elevator in these types! (Yeah...that 3rd floor rule gets ya every time!) However, the daughter didn't even know her parents were going to look at the place, and she got very mad and they had to withdraw the application. We went to look at places today in Ardmore and Bala Cynwyd, and then we drove by the Narberth place again. I almost signed for the one in Cynwyd! The part-time property manager for the Narberth place was sitting outside, and she said she was just about to call us to say the apartment was now available! We toured again (also to show my dad), and then finished up the application with the new details and the rest of my credit check info - and voila! I can move in on the 13th! The borough of Narberth is the cutest little small town ever - and very close to Philly. Unfortunately, due to SEPTA state budget cuts and my bizarre work schedule, I'm still going to have to catch the train at 5:51am, but the train stop is only 2 blocks from where I'll be living! No more sitting in traffic for 2 hours to get home............................... ;;D So...now we gotta figure out how to move my piano AGAIN! haha The Clavinova is my baby. :) The apartment is hardwood floors, so I need to find some area rugs, but I may not get those before I move in. Oh.....and I can have a cat, but I don't know about getting one....I'm a dog person!!! YAY! Carrie/Lizzie2 :) |

I was so nervous because they aren't exactly the perfectionist type when it comes to moving furniture. I have several things of mine that have little dings all over the edges from doorways and walls, and this piano practically means more to me than anything else! It does have a spot of white paint smeared on the front from my bedroom door when they got it in here, but so far it is otherwise okay! I sure do hope that it survives moving a second time! :) |

In the movie, "Philadelphia" with Tom Hanks and Antonio Banderas....they take a trip to Lower Merion for Hanks' parents' anniversary, which was where he supposedly grew up in the movie. Narberth is located in Lower Merion Twp, and that entire place still looks more or less the same as it always has. The borough of Narberth is only on 1/2 square mile...really quite a beautiful place. :) |

My wife never wanted a cat - but now we have two gems that we took in as strays that she couldn't be without. I guess you could say she went from being a confirmed "dog person" to cat lover in two heart beats. Tom |

I'm sure you'll figure out a way to move it. I'd get professionals to do that... but still I think that ours will stay at mum's. What comes to cats... I went from dog person to guinea pig person to a guinea pig-cat person. Too bad I can't have both at the same time! That would mean the end of the quinea pig! But I bet that once you'll get the cat, you'll love him/her lots. :) Sanna :) |

Post by giffy76 on Aug 1st, 2005, 8:06am When the wife and I bought our first house, we moved her piano in and then gutted the house, changed some walls and moved some exterior doors, when we sold that house we realized the changes we did made it impossible to get the piano out of the house. DUH!!. and the people that bought the house didn't want the piano, so I had to move it with a chainsaw. Almost caused a divorce but I bought her a new one. Moral of the story, think before you start ripping walls out and moving doors. Congrats. Good luck with the move. |

There was a wall opposite his door and the hallway was less than three feet. No problem with the bendable mattress but the couch was a gymnastics routine. We finally got it in but only after a strategically placed dent in the wall. |
