Title: Man, it's been too long! Post by Jim R on Jul 28th, 2005, 1:28pm Hi all, I don't kow how many of you "old timers" remember me, but up until Nov. of last year, I was a regular contributing member! Then lost my sign-in, moved back to NH from FL (too many hurricanes!) and started looking for a job (got one after being unemployed from Nov.-May). FL didn't work out. Not only too many hurricanes, but didn't like the job I had. I had bought a beautiful new house down there (after getting divorced after 28 years of marriage), but with the shit*y job, missing my kids (3 "boys" - 28, 23, 19) and then my back went out. Had 6 weeks of physical therapy for this and it eventually got better. All through the FL experience, I was having erratic CH's and went to see a neurologist down there. She said there was no reason I couldn't take imitrex (despite family history of heart disease), so I did and wow- what a relief THAT can be! Came back to NH and my back went out again - this time much worse than before and the doctors felt a piece of a lumbar disc had broken off and was wedged against my sciatic nerve. So bad I couldn't even make the movements to get in my vehicle for 3 weeks - pain was intense. Then, as soon as I started to recover from this, my CH's kick in again. Very atypical for me to get them in the summer as I normally get them fall/winter. Right smack dab in the middle ofthem now and just had an appt. with my former neurologist Mnday. he trialed me on an anti-seizure med. called Trileptal -anyone heard of it for CH's? Well, anyway, it did nothing but make them worse and make me feel weird. I called him and told him tis and am now back on lithium - 1200 mgs/day. Started this yesterday and already it has stopped them. I was having 6/day and since noon yesterday, NONE! I hope it continues!! So, life goes on, albeit, back in NH. And here's a kicker - living with my ex in her house so I can recoup my monetary losses I incurred in FL from buying/selling my house (you know, real estate comissions!) and then buy a new place. My deadline (imposed by the ex) is July 2006 to be out of here. My new job pays well, though have to travel around the US and Canada teaching hospital employees how to use my company's software, which has to do with optical imaging and the electronic medical record. Hi to all my old bus out there and hope to make a few more now that I'm back on CH.com! PFDANs to ya all. Jim R |

Title: Re: Man, it's been too long! Post by Jim R on Aug 1st, 2005, 8:37am Thank you everyone for your kind messages! The good news is: I'M NOT GETTING HIT - THE LITHIUM HAS KICKED-IN!! I went to the Maine coast over the weekend for a mini-reunion with my two brothers and not one CH! AND, I even pounded a few gustos without a twinge! Man, that beer tasted GREAT! It's been months since I had one! So, life appears to be getting better. I go for my lithium level this afternoon, but I must be "in the zone"... PFDAN's to ya all Jim R |

Title: Re: Man, it's been too long! Post by Jim R on Aug 3rd, 2005, 4:39am Yes, I know...living with the ex...frankly, it sucks. Although it's up and down, when it's down, I've seen dogs treated MUCH better. But I bite my tongue, think "it's only another year" and try to think of something else. A complicating thing for me is that she's spending a lot of time, including overnights, with my best friend (from high school, no less), so it really kind of gnaws at me. My friend is like playing both sides of the fence saying it's just a friendship with my ex and trying to maintain our friendship. But it's getting a little strained... Oh, I was premature in announcing the abatement of my CH's due to lithium - had a breathrough last night and took my last shot of imitrex. Hope those don't happen too often! Jim R |
